hey how many of you guys use Excel for gambling, and in which capacity? What do you use it for and how?
Just doing some research thanks guys.
I think most ppl don't use excel for gambling. Only ppl with system play uses it. As for me I've been using excel to see how the play gonna be with the score out come, which team have more offensive, defensive, reb, etc.... I've been doing pretty good in playoff. That's all i can say..... GL with your research. I've been playing with it since Dec 06. A lot of headache!....believe me....

As of right now, my NBA and NCAAB system or tool is completed. I used same system for NBA and NCAAB. I am working on MLB system. I haven't had any successful lately, it's up and down. I guess it's not worth it because of the Juice for Favorite. Too High. I'm thinking about getting into Soccer. Wish you finding your right system.

I use Excel for standard record keeping in CBB. Helps to monitor
a bunch of simple yet important metrics quickly and it's easy to
read. Always nice to have a hardcopy of a season's work
too.
Also use Excel to track certain CBB teams individual power rankings I
create, game by game. I guess it's a "system" but I don't
use it to find me a pick per se. It's just a good guage to show
if a team is imploding, starting to play much better, etc.
Usually my power rankings show these things a game or two before Vegas
has adjusted accordingly so it can help find some value throughout the
year in some situations.
Just dabble with Excel and you can probably create something that may
work to increase your winning % a point or two a year which is big, at
least for myself in CBB.

I use it all the time to test out systems. I also use it for my football power ratings, it's a great tool for any calculating and record keeping. If your doing anything that involves math or percentages it works great.
Even for a comparison chart it helps but takes time. All my horse racing systems are calculated in excel too.

Is there a beginners guide on how to use excel to input these systems? For example baseball, do you track every score and have updated schedules and then you input the next days games and then excel spits out some numbers on who will win?

I use excel extensively. I use it for money management, tracking my picks, calculating monies won and lost on a daily basis and overall for the various systems that I track. I hope to eventually move everything to MS Access, but for now Excel is my workhorse!!!

I use it an love it. Excel rules. Here is my basic concept. I track at least 4 different systems which each assign their own expected spread. For instance Tampa Bay might be +3 but the systems say the SHOULD be +5, +7, +4 and +5. So clearly all of the systems are saying Tampa isnt getting as many points as they should. Therefore the team they are playing is a steal at -3. I use excel to calculate how each system compares to the actual spread and also calculate an average of the 4 systems vs the spread. From their I created easy "if" logic to display the team with the highest chance of beating the spread in each game. For instance, in a cell I would say something like.......IF cell A is less than -2 (meaning the visitor has a 2 point advantage vs the spread) then display the name of the visiting team. So all I have to do is simply drag and drop the data and all the calculations are there in a blink of an eye. Saves me hours of notebook and pencil work.
