The Ivy League System

This forum has gone a bit stale.  DanRules has pretty much retired, around half of the main posters are banned, and sports wagering has gone legal in many states.  The last item has had me a bit worried that any great systems on Covers could lead to an adjustment by the books.  I have noticed one system, whether or not a run will be scored in the 1st inning in MLB, has been reacted to.  No worries on this one making any waves, unless.....

Anyway, here is the Ivy League System for College Hoops :

The Ivy League does not have basketball scholarships.  The players usually stay for 4 years.  The programs are consistent.  I went back over every matchup, both home and road for the past 4 seasons.  I then averaged the final scores for each team.  For example : Princeton @ Harvard - I averaged the past 4 final scores for the road team (Princeton), and did the same for the home team (Harvard).  I came up with a hypothetical final score.  Then I compare it with the point spread and picked whatever team ATS that fit my proposed outcome.

Not a bad start.  The lines for today's games are quite sharp

Columbia covers by 0.5, and Brown loses by 10.  The next set of games is on Monday.

Four games today, and one of the lines the system came up with is razor sharp.  I have Princeton winning by 17.75, and the line is -17.5. 

Also, I am using this progression : 

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

Move up 1 unit after each wager.  After two wins, the series is complete.  The games are often played at the same time, so I have four series.  The Ivy League Season goes through the end of February, so I expect to win each series at least once.

Wow - The system had Princeton by 17.75, the line was 17.5, and they win the game by 18!  I'm glad I didn't watch.  The Ivy League System went 3 - 1 yesterday, four games on Saturday.

I noticed you had posted this in a previous thread, and of course, I forgot about it.  I usually don't follow basketball until the NFL playoffs get going.  What I don't understand is your wagering method.  What defines a "series"?  Each team in the league play a home and home series, so that is only 2 games.

A series is a line like so :

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

It has nothing to do with any individual team.  After the first week or so, the Ivy League plays four games a day, usually on Saturday, a few times on Friday.  Unlike the NFL Playoffs, where one game is played at a time, the Ivy's play three at the same time, one game later in the day.  The NFL Playoffs are a little easier, with one series at a time.  Fittingly, The Ivy's are a bit more complex, with four series at once.

 I have four series.

A

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

B

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

C

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

D

x - 2x - 4x - 6x - 8x - 12x

The first matchup on the day's action goes under A, the second goes under B, and so on.  There are tweleve matchdays to go.  As the season comes close to the end, I will look at any lines (or series) that are in the negative and adjust.  

There are a lot of ways to bet the system.  It's ATS, so everything is -110, or around there.

Here are today's matchups.  Princeton @ Cornell is predicted to end in a draw.  This has happened in previous seasons.  The call is to take the points.  Regarding the Brown @ Dartmouth game, the system has Brown -3.5, and so does Vegas.  The three choices as I see them are : skip the game, go with Brown on the road, or go with Dartmouth at home.  I went with Dartmouth at home.  The reason being they are  division home underdog.

Rant - I barely need to watch ESPN or listen to sports talk radio to be a successful gambler.  The other day while driving, wanting a break from my usual music, I flipped over to the local sports radio channel, mostly because Tony Gwynn Jr. is on with a couple other dudes.  The topic was NBA players complaining about a new rule stating they have to play at least 65 games in order to be eligible for post-season awards.  I didn't know about the new rule.  A couple days later, while at the gym, I look up from my workout, and ESPN is on.  I read the subtitles, and the topic is again the 65 game rule.  

Ok - first the typical top 50 prospect barely goes to college before turning pro.  Let me back that up.  First the typical top 50 prospect can barely get into college.  The high school grades are BS, and, all kinds of waivers are used, expemptions given, and strings are pulled to get the top 50 prospect admitted.  Then, he barely goes to class, if at all, makes a bunch of NIL money, andvturns pro after a year.  Now, in the NBA, the prospect is a star, and I understand is complaining about playing more than 65 games? WTF?!?! A full season of 81 games was never a problem until recently.  

From a gambler's perspective, forming an NBA System is nearly impossible.  There is no way to know what games the best players are going to play in.  Another way is to watch the NBA and wager based on observations.  The last few times I watched an NBA game, within 24 hours I wanted to smoke weed.  Also, I had an urge to have sex with nearly female I looked at.  The NBA has changed for the worse ever since LeBron arrived.  His career is more manfactured than a pro wrestler's.  OK - end of rant

8 Matchdays Remaining 

Good morning. I have stumbled upon this system, because I am a data guy as well as, someone who likes to find or develop systems. 

I am currently running a harness racing PICK5 system for Mohawk Raceway in Ontario, where I have been betting since the 80's. 

The one system my friend and I have tried with success relating to the Ivy League, is based on the fact that they start to play BACK TO BACK games (Fri-Sat) in late January or the beginning of Feb every year. We have successfully bet home dogs on the first night, including small ML plays to gain profit most years.....but its more about the 2nd night of these weekend play situations

We have found that UNDER overwhelmingly, hits regularly on the Saturday of a back to back. If Friday was cancelled due to a storm, we do not play the Saturday games. Last night, like most weekends, it went 3 - 1 UNDER and almost never does it go 1 - 3. I have not kept stats on the success of this, but I do portion off about $500 every year that I purely dedicate to playing this to raise cash for the NCAA tourney time where I roll my profits into ML situations on ML dogs selectively.

I would be curious to know if I went back through the data if this hits or not? This might be another angle for YOU to look at if you are inclined.

 Betting on the Saturday Unders does seem like a good idea.  Including yesterday's games, there are 4 Saturdays on the schedule thus year.  They are all after a full slate on Friday. That leaves 12 games, with unders currently 3 - 1.  I'll keep tabs on that angle as well for the remainder of the season.  Thanks for the tip 

Today's Matchups - Cornell and Yale are both undefeated and tied for first at 6 - 0.  Cornell is usually not too good.  Yale usually finishes in the top three.   Should be a good game, although both the system and the spread have Yale winning comfortably.

The first game of today is almost over.  Brown is losing by 9 points.  I have a bad feeling about this weeks games.  Ever since I typed this sentence : "I barely need to watch ESPN or listen to sports talk radio to be a successful gambler." Penn managed to cover on the last game,  preventing a winless day.  My other wagers on other sports did alright.  Therefore, I think the jinx will be short-lived.  There are two Matchdays next week, on Friday and Saturday.  In fact, the next three weekends will have two Matchdays apiece. 

This system has no formula, and your strategy does not contain a winning edge.

The "Ivy League" are you serious (the absolute last games of NCAA anyone should even attempt to consider a wager on; they are considered LAY-OFF

and for many reasons, evidentially you may learn why . Especially after you continue to lose, and make excuses on the way how everything is going to materialize 

into a winning Ivy League season of wagering; simply put, this is nothing more than Bullshitt
