Targeting streaking teams

We have all seen it, when teams are on a heater, there have been a few that come to mind this season (Texas going on a good run when dogged in all games)
Just wondering if anyone has any strategies that can hint a heater is coming on.
To me it feels like it's a fairly random event, but surely after a few wins and looking at upcoming opposition there may be some strategy to imply that a team is about to carry on for a few more games to enabling the punter to jump and enjoy it as much as the fans for that team.
I have tested only this year with a very simple strategy that has shown a small profit, however it may be an anomaly, and I'm only posting for a thought process. I guess it would be good for an action junkie.
Basically if a team wins 3 games, and they are dogged in their next outing, bet on them. Continue betting til they lose. If they lose the 2nd game at worst you are even for that particular streak.
Also in those 3 games if the team was fav in all 3 you may take them in the 4th and keep going til they lose.
There have been some fantastic runs this year, and only a small profit so far, so don't go betting this, just thought I'd share an idea with the board.
