Should I avoid parlays?

Hi! Î'm new to the world of Baseball wager (and only half a year old in the world of sports betting) and I've been "parlaying" everyday, with the hope that my bankroll will increase dramatically (aka really fast... cause that's what every guy here wants). Unfortunately, it's doing the opposite, as far as I know. I always end up losing 1 bet of the parlay (generally a 2-team parlay), because of a bad play at the end of the game. Bad luck.

 

But this bad luck has been costing me a lot. I've lost close to 15 units in a week because of parlays. Should I avoid them? Logically, you (and I) would say yes but so many people are succeeding with these type of bets, so why wouldn't I?

 

Are there so tips or tricks that could help me... you know, pick the right bets (or the right amount, because sometimes, I just bet too much). Betting less (in terms of number) but having each bet worth more (like 2-3 units more/bet)?!

PARLAYS ARE A SURE WAY TO DISASTOR. IF YOU WANT TO BECOME WEALTHY FIND SOMEBODY WHO WINS 60%OF THEIR WAGERS AND RISK 6%OF YOUR CAPITAL. AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME YOU WILL MAKE A MILLION. THER IS NO WAY OUT OF THAT. PARLAYS CAUSE YOU TO RISK A GREATER % OF YOUR MONEY. YOU ARE GIVING THE HOUSE  A BIGGER %. THERE ARE PLACES YOU CAN GO THAT INSTEAD OF PAYING -110 YOU CAN AVERAGE +105. I DO IT EVERY DAY. IF YOU RISK 6% PER BANK ROLL AMOUNT YOU WILL DOULE AFTER ABOUT 14 +WINS. AFTER GETING TO +140 GAMES AHEAD YOU WILL BECOME A MILLIONAIRE .ITS THAT SIMPLE. MY STUDENTS AVERAGE OVER 100 + GAMES A YEAR IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL.  NONE PARLAY GAMES. IF THEY DID THEY WOULD DO SO WHEN GAMES WERE GOING OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THUS WHEN GETTING AN AVERAGE OF +105 AND STARTING WITH $100 AND PARLAYING 3 GAMES THEY WOULD HAVE  $205 ON FIRST GAME THEN $415 ON SECOND GAME THEN ABOUT $831 ON THIRD GAME. THAT IS A NATURAL PARLAY AND YOU CAN PICK AND CHOOSE THE GAMES YOU FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT. AND MAKE $831 INSTEAD OF $700 THAT IS IF YOU ARE GETTING 6-1 ODDS. STILL SINCE YOU HAVE A 8 TIMES LESS CHANCE OF HITTING YOU SHOULD BET 8 TIMES LESS MONEY THAN A STRAIGHT BET. MY BASE IS 6%. A PARLAY SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN 1% OF YOUR BANKROLL. HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE TO YOU

Bookies love parlays & teasers. If they like them then you shouldn't.

Cisco I gotta' disagree with you here.  I will parlay big favs to get the juice down in the NHL and of course you can do this on other sports also.

 

Also, I will come out ahead on teasers in the NFL almost every single year.  If you search here you may be able to see my NFL teaser post from last year.  I know you can still find them over at Statfox. 

 

 

over a period of time $ line parlays are the way to go if you try and stick with sure bets, sure the payout is small if the line is to big but if you don't mind winning in small amounts its ok. only thing is, once you get burned on one, takes awhile to recoupe.

You shouldn't stay away from parlays, you just shouldn't put much faith into them.  Sports betting is way to hetic and unpredictable to not go for all the marbles once in a while.  And quite frankly there are only 2 ways to make any real money at this.  I said make money not break even (even though that's important to).  You can either put a lot of faith in underdogs, or you can put together multiple games.  Either way it's a risks but hey, they don't call it gambling for nothing.  GL

great angle is to take dogs of 200 or more, put into round robin pars. look for at least 3 teams on the card for that day. favorites are usually way over priced when it gets that high, so there is considerable value in the dogs.

Tru Tru, though his problem is picks and maybe the # of teams in the parlay.  Anyone doing parlays should start off with 2 or 3 games and go from there.  But if yu start with 10 yu'll never win.

been gettin burned by my government on parlay payouts for the last 3 years but at least im still making money, switching to 5dimes this season cus the payouts and lines are WAY better.

 

Anyways, my system works, so long as you have generally good picks (60+%) and spread teams out WISELY. I don't recommend this amount but I do best with $3-$5 6team NFL parlay cards, risking $40-$50/week total. Granted it took the first year to figure out what I was doing, Im most definately ahead at this point, so Im looking forward to a better payout table.

 

My advice matches theirs, start small, 2-4 teams, never risking what you can't afford to lose and go from there.

 

Everybody has systems and blah blah blah, but the truth is Good picks and Smart team selection with a little luck is the way to win when playing parlays...

Just limit the # of games you put in parleys.  Don't ever do more then 3 games.  Parleys actually end up paying you the same as straight bets in the long run.  If you bet 4 and 5 gamers you will eventually hit one, but it may be so long that you are out of $ before you finally get a winner.  Parleys aren't the demon that some people make them out to be just be smart and not greedy when using them.  I actually think they are best when used to limit your exposure. or the amount of your BR that is exposed if you have many many bets in one day.  If I have 12-15 plays in one day, I may parley them together in 2G parleys to limit the units I have on the line.  Other then this I don't recommend using them.
