NEVER wager on or against your favorite team. That is the biggest mistake that the amateur gambler makes. The reasons are quite simple. It is impossible to look at your team realistically.
Most people tend to look at their team through rose colored glasses. They either think that their team is good enough to beat another team, or they think that their team is not as bad as the line indicates and that their team can make a closer game out of it than the line indicates. If their team is having a poor season, they think that all is lost so they fade them.
You can occasionally win a couple of games by wagering on a team using this logic, but you are going to lose a lot more games in the long run. I am a OHIO STATE grad and I NEVER wager on OHIO STATE games. This rule simply eliminates any chance that I am wagering with my heart, instead of my head
Do not wager on your team either way.
