Hypothetical question...if you were wealthy

I'm just curious and wonder if anyone would ever do such a thing. Let's say you loved to gamble and had plenty of money...a few million or maybe more. If someone told you that they had a way of playing and picking teams to bet on that had gone, say, 185-2 over the course of 2009 and 2010 to-date would anyone ever even "consider" laying out a million dollars sight unseen for the information? I know it's a crazy hypothetical. And I know it would be crazier still to take a million dollar chance that someone would just take your money and scam you. But say the person told you that if you had maybe 4 million on top of that to gamble with and you were in Las Vegas that you'd EASILY make your million back over the course of some undivulged sport's season. And that if things went right and you had the nerve you could make it back in 4 weeks. It would only take an entire season if you had the worst luck imaginable. Again, you'd have to imagine that you were wealthy enough that risking a million was possibly worth at least "thinking" about. And further, that betting 500k at a time wouldn't bother you if you lost it at a Vegas sportsbook one out of every ten times.

Whoever reads this will probably think I'm a great candidate for the nut-house. And maybe I am but I'd really love to know if there is even ONE person who would consider it...ONE person who might risk that much? Oh! And just to make it a "little" easier to consider if you were in that situation, let's say that the person with the so-called "information" would come and deal with you in person and provide you with identification so you'd know who they were and where they lived so you could find them if it were a scam. Would knowing that make anyone feel a little more confident?

Again, this is purely hypothetical but is something someone wrote once and I'm extremely curious about the nature of gamblers in a case like this. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks for tolerating the length of this. And by the way, I can tell you that (being middle class) I'd find it insane to do. However, if I were a multi-milllionaire I might just be stupid enough to take the chance IF I could verify who I was dealing with before I paid the money out.

If $1 million were equilant to $10,000 of my current money, then yes, I would risk it.

At the moment, I can afford to lose $10,000 and it won't affect my lifestyle at all.

If I could afford to lose $1 million without it affecting my lifestyle, then sure, why not?

I'd want proof of the 185-2 record, printed out and highlited in front of me, and I'd want it for way more than just 2 years.  Possibly 5 years, or more. 

But yes, it's definitely considerable.

I want a system that has done relatively marginal for the past 10 years but good for the past three... Sports have stepped a lot in the last couple of years so any trends that you can find that have just started withing the last couple of years, ride it!

And yes, in this hypothetical, it WOULD be not only documented but the person would show you exactly where and how to find the info so you could get the proof yourself and see it in writing before any transaction. All I was asking for was an answer and smdio, I REALLY appreciate it!

Anybody with any sense at all would have to see the system and the proof to support the claim that it's a sure winner.  THEN, and only then would one try the system using money....but NOT a million bucks.  You would test it first with small wagers until you were satisfied that it was for real.  Then you would increase your unit size and if warranted you would reach the million dollar bets you mention.  I can only think of a couple of times this has ever happened in the gambling world(cheating doesn't count in my book).  When Dr. Thorpe came up with his ten-count method of blackjack `play, he and his backers started out small, and then proceeded to kill the Nevada casinos.  Another time was when Ken Uston took card counting to a new level with team play, way before the MIT teams did it.  There may be more, but you don't just go out and throw a boatload of money on an untried system. IMO.

185-2 hypothetically. Would the info be for a Chase system or straight betting.  If its chasing there seems to a lot of systems on this forum that might fit. And of course if its a 6 game chase and you have deep pockets, it might be attainable without paying anyone 1 million for the info. There is a lot of great info on this forum.  I wish i had that kind of bankroll to put on the better chase systems here 

185 and 2 is absurd  aint no one in the history of sports betting that could even come close  to that win %  over a span of years in time !

I seen the top sharps in this business hold solid at 60 to 65% 

182 - 2  theyd kill to get that  !  USE a more realsitc %  like say 75% over two yaers results then i'd say yes with a MILLION to invest !

Actually, anyone with several million dollars wouldn't be talking to con men...

or have the need to try and "win" more money.
