Handicappers to stay away from

I wanted this thread to be helpful and warn those who are new to betting. Handicappers for the most part are just scammers. From what I have experienced, they have 2 common methods. One, they give 50 percent of people one pick, they give 50 percent the others...and the 50% that actually won the game, they sell their service to. After they have your money, you find out that their plays aren't very good...it's just a scam.
 
Second, are the dreaded units. A service will lose 3 plays in a row...then they will chase the losses with a 5 unit play. If the 5 unit play wins, they will be 5-3. If it loses, then they have a 15 unit play....and if the 15 unit play wins...they will state their record as 15 units won, 8 lost....sounds good...but actually they went 1-4.
 
I am sure there are some true, honest, handicappers out there. But very few. It is not worth the risk.
 
And think about it. Handicappers claim that they win 65%-70% of the time....if they didn't win this much, how could they sell their picks? Well, if someone is truly that good at gambling...why would they put so much money into selling their picks? You think they would be perfectly happy making a fortune themselves...because by selling their picks, they are affecting the lines against them. It doesn't make sense.
 
I have had bad experiences with the following companies. Please post any bad experiences you have had. I want this threat to be helpful to those new to betting....

A few years ago I really lost a lot of money paying for bad services. I warn everyone to stay away from them. There are more handicappers out there who are scammers...Please share if you have bad experiences.

I subscribed to Adamwins.com kickoff weekend special for the opening of the football season. $400 gets you his supposed top plays and if he goes 1-2 or worse then you get the rest of the season free. His selections that day went 0-3. So I am livid and down almost a grand paying for his services and the other $500 I had wagered. So I'm thinking well this guy who smooth talked me harder than Matthew Macanhey in "Two for the Money" is giving me his the rest of his picks for free. At that point I was still mad about being down but his I was getting his full season service for free. A service that costs about $2500 or so. I then call him on Monday night and he gives me an 800 number for the pick line. After about 4 weeks into the season I stopped calling his pick lines for picks, his record was terrible, I wish I would have fully documented his picks to prove the poor picks I was given. I wouldn't be surprised if he had another 800 # giving out different picks. This learning experience cost me a cool $1200 or so in paying for his service and lost wagers. Buyer beware before buying a service. Make sure they have a track record of successful betting with a documented picks similar to the pro cappers her on covers. I'm looking into purchasing a different service but I'm skeptical thus far. I'll let you guys know how it goes with the next one. This last weekend he liked the Pats and Giants to cover and the under for the Pats/SD game...another losing weekend.

Violence, I'm an MMA fan also. That was an awesome Wandy vs. Chuck fight. Would you believe my dishnetwork went down right before that fight? And it didn't come back on until Jan. 3. So I missed the best UFC PPV in a long time, and missed the best bowls.
 
Anyway, I strongly urge you not to purchase picks. There are guys on covers who do better than most the handicappers I have paid for. I forgot to add "gametimecappers". Three hundred bucks a week for their service. I blew about 900 bucks on them. I mean, I'm a small time better. Maybe 5 bucks a small game, 10 bucks a game I feel good about, and 20 bucks games I really sure feel good about. It would take me a long time to earn back 900. To tell the truth, I'm doing better on my own. I've lost more money to handicappers than I ever lost to books. That is why I started this thread. To urge people not to listen to them.

And seriosly, no one answered my question. If someone truly hits 70%...why in the world would they sell their picks? They'd be millionaires killing the sportsbooks!

Yeah man that was a great card. It was good to see Chuck to win and get some of his confidence back. That division is going to be interesting. That Forrest and Rampage season of TUF is going to be one for the ages.

I hear Indian Cowboy is good. He was a poster here at covers before going tout, but why pay for a service when there are so many good cappers right here.

I wouldn't pay for a service. Actually I think experience is a huge thing. Honestly, I am haven't the best year of my life, and it's just because of what I learned the past 2 years. For example, treat lightly when betting against home teams. Last year I lost all kinds of money betting on the obvious pick.

He did pretty well before he went tout.  But as soon as he did the roof caved in.  People were getting his picks and posting them.  It was brutal.

Nice post Alamo.  I cap every game I wage on and that cuts out so much stress.  For one, I don't have to get mad at anyone else if I lose, and for two - why would I pay somebody else to make the same pick as I would after I have capped that game?  And for three, I just don't trust people in general....

ATS CONSULTANTS is, by far, the biggest scamdicapper ripoffs of all time. I fell for their act in I think it was 2001 or 2002. I paid, and Im embarrased to even admit it now, like $2,500 for season long access into their LOCK CLUB, which was the service they touted as winning 150+ UNITS the season before. So dumb me I bought into all that hype saying "wow, 150+ units. if Im betting 100/UNIT Ill make over 15K this season, awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
 
So the deal is this, they come out with like 6-8 plays a day on college and pros. Well they dont count the juice in their results, so lets say they go 4-4 on the day they count that as a break even day when in actuality its a -.4 UNIT of a day. Well the thing is most plays were 3 UNITS OR MORE. So on an average day they would skim anywhere from 1-2 UNITS a day off the ACTUAL total. Put that into a 6 month season and theyre skimming 180-360 UNITS off the top just by not counting the juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, by their calculation I believe them they are up 150 UNITS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Id be too if I didnt have to pay juice!!!!!!!!
 
So I called up angry and demanded my money back and asked them repeatedly why would they not count the juice in their results and it is an outright lie to say they made this type of money when they didnt. All that happened was my guy said hed talk to his boss and get back to me about a refund and of course he never did. Those cocky fucks still send me shit every fucking month too, it pisses me off

The first question to ask a service is where they are located. Then tell them you will be travelling to that area on business the following week and would like to stop by and check them out.
 
When they tell you they don't give out their address there is a good reason   - they lost their clients so much money they are afraid someone will go postal on them and kill them.
 
Bottom line...Don't pay for picks. Listen to what people have to say here. People with a good amount of posts that is who have been here awhile.

if all these services were so good they would not spend timne and money on websites, TV shows, ads etc....they would be in Vegas putting money down on games and making a living that way.....if a joke like Brandon Lang can sell  100 people a month of service at say 500 bucks he has made 50k......its in the bank.......if he bets his picks he will not do nearly as well as we all know......selling picks is money in the bank.....the other is gambling.....may be few good ones out there but they all have ups and downs which shud be expected....if u hit one on a downturn u could end up broke and most people really dont bet within their bankroll if they have one at all.......if you have 1k  to gamble with then u shud  bet 20 to 30 bucks a game until u build it up......2-3% of your roll......lay off teasers and parlays.......some people will say they have roll of 5 or 10k and bet  big, after few losses they quit because they really dont have 5 or 10 k to risk

notice too how they name different picks.......insider, oddsmaker error  20 star etc.........if one is hot thats what they will tout while the other plays may be doing terrible..........like I'm 5-1 on my last 6 insiders.....but they fail to mention the other plays maybe  1-4 and 3-7, lets face it it u use a service u most likely play all the picks not use a select few

ALL SUCCESSFUL touts are mass marketing geniuses.  They handicap no better than a monkey; they're just looking for some greedy or desperate sap to sell their pile of excrement to.

And Covers "Experts" are no different.  They brag about how great of a run they are on.  But if you check their last 25 monitored selections, you'll realize why they are in the business of selling.

The only service I've paid for over the past few years is Dr. Bob. He's as honest as they come.... He's had his ups/downs over the years.
