Chasing!

Like most, chasing is my downfall. It has been for 20 years. I think I'm above average(like we all think) at picking winners but always awful at money management(specifically chasing). I'm going to try something new and I was curious if anyone out there does it. At the beginning(20 yrs ago) I always preferred watching what I bet on. Since smartphones I really prefer not watching but keeping updated on my phone. My new strategy to avoid chasing is I'll study and make my picks early in the day. And I won't check results to very late(after all games are completed) or the next morning. This will take some willpower at the beginning but I think will really benefit me making money at this. Which is my ultimate goal(the entertainment value has worn off after so many years). Feedback is greatly appreciated!

I have been down that road over and over again too Berkshire. Your plan is easy to talk about doing, but based on my personal experience that's about as far as it will go. Sure, you may can do it for a night or two, but 20 years of habit isn't going anywhere. Face it, you enjoy chasing. That's what you will do. Learn the Labouchere money management system. It will fit your chasing personality and save you from yourself, assuming of course that you are a decent handicapper or have a reasonable method for picking games.

Google Labouchere and learn the basic premise of it, but DO NOT apply that definition of it to sports betting because you will still ultimately lose. It will just take you a little longer. There are a million ways to manage the Labby, you just have to figure out how aggressive or conservative you are willing to be. I know the labby inside and out as far as it applies to sports because I have used it, and lost with it, a lot of different ways.

I now run the most conservative method possible. It takes time and patience. For chasers like you and and me that's the hardest part to conquer mentally. Follow the streak survivor thread and you will see exactly how I run it. It sounds like the main difference between you and I is that you are a decent handicapper. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I suck at it. I have to have a source because I can't rely on my own picks.
