There are various systems out there depending what you want to commit to in the way of time. Aside from the Regular System I use during the regular season, there are an additional 12 Bowl Situational Angles I will utilize as well.
One thing the average player tends to overlook is that you cannot handicap (to those that actually do) as you normally would. Teams have a month to prepare for another team. Yes I'd agree that an Alabama will demolish a Utah in the regular season (with but a week to prepare); but in a Bowl it's a different story and a different set of intangibles. Remember Boise-Okla 2006? How flat is Alabama gonna be after being one game away from the Chmp-game and now relegated to playing Utah?! Intangibles? On paper a blow-out, on the actual field who know's? I gotta believe Utah's gonna hang around...
And COACHING!! Man alive...I'm looking at the "picks' forum here, and everyones got a "Play of the Year" laying heavy chalk. Were these guys born yesterday? Do people realize what percentage of chalk covers Bowl Games? Exactly why Vegas sets the lines...knowing everyone will bang the fav's! You've got a semi-dysfunctional offense and you're laying 10.5 points to Joe Paterno?! Give me a break...couldn't even score against UCLA and you're giving him 40 days and 10+ points to boot? Talk about value in a line...
Simply put...and check previous years' results...you bet the chalk, the man's gonna collect...not always, but more often than not..
