ats vs. moneyline

Does anyone know the formula that covers.com uses to take a money line and convert it to a against the spread?  Accordingly, Red Wings suck!  However, they are plus three units this year.

update the  red wings are +9.0 units . why does covers having them losing big time! it took me 5 min. to backtrack this .please help!

bost. bruins=43-14 straight up  ats=42-23
det redwings=43-14 ditto          ats=24-41

dont pay attention to ATS in hockey, it is not a very good stat as it basically includes both +1.5 and -1.5 making it unusable.
not sure exactly how accurate this one is but looks solid

Not very sure about this one either.  Only 11 teams are in the positive return column for units?

LIPPSMAN, IT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE VIG. A WINNING TEAM WINS 91$ WHILE A LOSING TEAM LOSES A100$. THEREFORE THERE SHOULD BE SHOULD BE MORE LOSING TEAMS. CHECK MLB STANDINGS IN COVERS THE LAST 5 YEARS AND THERE ARE MORE LOSING TEAMS.

Well, if everyone finished 42-42 for example or close to it, I would expect EVERYONE to be in the red....

If everything is even on a statsheet.  But in pucks you just don't usually see that.
