glad I got this one in when I did....

other thoughts:

I like Belgium to win but not really at the current price. Seems like a team worth watching and wagering on in their second match.

No lean for the 1.5 line although I am confident Brazil will win. They will likely win by 2 but now that Croatia have lost by 2 to Brazil, if Mexico can mange to lose by 1 they will only need a draw in their final game vs. Croatia. That is quite a bit of incentive to pack it in and keep it low scoring. For me the UNDER 3 is quite appealing and I might make a play. A 1-0 loss would be excellent for Mexico. 0-0 or 1-1 would be great. If Brazil is up 2-0 I don't see them pressing for the goal, and Mexico certainly won't want to drop a 3rd and give Croatia that advantage that a draw will be enough for them. The other way to play this given that psychological situation would be Brazil to win to nil which I haven't seen a price for yet. I will be back with a decision about a play or no play later on.

For Russia, most likely outcomes for me appear to be 1-0 or 2-0. Got on it early and have a much better line than what is available now. Think this one is likely to go UNDER as well, but not interested in making a play there.

Zamigo, Agree with your thoughts on Russia ( got them at plus money ), and over priced Belgium ( got them h/full @ 2.16 ). Algeria are no slouches.
Brazil is over priced too, so I won't bite there either.

I think this is a good price here and worth a shot. I think the Ivory Coast defense will have a lot of trouble with Colombia's attack and I think Colombia's defense will match up better with Ivory Coasts attack. Japan was just too small and eventually they scored two header goals off crosses. I think Colombia will do better, although i doubt they will keep a clean sheet. I think both teams will score but Colombia will come away with a win. Both teams are in a semi let down spot after big wins, but based on what I saw from these two sides, let downs will come in the form of defensive mistakes rather than a lack of offense. That is why I will be on the OVER 2.5 at plus money as well. Good Luck however you play it.

Last game required an own goal, a wrong pk, and a toe ball to go over the number. This time Mexico need to lose by no more than 1, and they aren't going to do it with an open field in a shoot out. Mexico will sit back in this one, and even if Brazil get to 2, it is really tough for a team that has been sitting so deep to turn it back on and get on the attack. Even if they are down 2, that is the same margin Croatia lost by, they certainly won't want to concede a third. If Mexico can create a situation where they need to draw Croatia in the final game that is just what they want. The way I see it for it to go OVER 3 Mexico are going to need to score, so I will take my stab at playing it this way at +135 rather than -141.

I feel I capped the Brazil game well, but played it poorly...obviously wish I was on the under but glad I'm seeing things clearly...a great game for the Mexico goalie and scary day for the Russia goalie were the two main differences today, but that is part of the game...to be fair Russia are not the team I thought they were going to be and I will adjust accordingly....

early thoughts on the other 2:

I think Netherlands will win, probably by 2, but not sure I am interested at the current price, I may have missed the boat on that one. They have already put themselves into ideal position in regards to goal differencial and 3 points is good enough for them here. But thinking back to the Australia game, and where they were able to give Chile trouble, it was primarily in the air in the box, and I think this Dutch side is much better matched to defend them. As such I may look to make a play on Australia UNDER 0.50 goals or NO BTTS or Netherlands to win to nil depending on the prices available.

Spain and Chile I can't really find an edge. Too hard to tell if Spain are going to implode or explode. I would say I think it is unlikely that either team will keep a clean sheet, but at the same time Spain are probably not too worried about the goal differencial as long as they can win, because if they do they will have a likely already eliminated Australia team to try to run the score up on. I like the Chile team, but something is fishy about the +1 line to me and I'm just going to watch and enjoy.

This line just doesn't make sense to me...how can this Spain team be expected to win by more than a goal right now against a good team in good form in their own continent. If Spain have a very strong showing tomorrow they could still win 2-1 for example. At first I was hesitant about the line thinking people must be betting Chile after they had a strong showing and Spain had a disasterous opener, but after taking a closer look I think this is worth a shot with money back on a 1 goal loss.

Somehow I missed this line and price on my first run through completely. As I said in my previous writeup, I do not expect Australia to score, and I definitely do not see Netherlands scoring more than 3 (even 3 I would be very surprised with). I think Australia will defend tough, and Netherlands will be composed and patient for the first half. Like I also said earlier, Netherlands are sitting pretty in terms of goal differential and once they do get the lead they will be content to knock the ball around. Most probable outcomes are 1-0 and 2-0 and for that reason I have no play on the +/- 1.5, but really like this play.

To Qualify- Group B: Spain/Chile @ +175 (1.00 to win 1.75)

First future to fail, and it won't be the last, but I have learned a major lesson here for the future. I took this bet because I liked Chile, not because I liked Spain, I simply figured I prefered Spain's chances over Netherlands. The truth is I should have played Chile to qualify or Chile to win the group, but I was enticed by the price, and I pay the price as a result. Thankfully, I have won my wagers on Chile in both of their 2 matches, which in a way cancels the damage here. These futures are a hell of a lot of fun, but realistically for me going forward are not the wise way to play things, and I will do so in a wiser fashion in the future.

thoughts for tomorrow:


Ivory Coast/Colombia- I think this will be a great match from a viewing perspective both teams play a fun game and it will be interesting to see how they match up. Overall I think at the prices being offered there is good value on Colombia, who in my opinion are the more complete team. Watching the first half of the Japan Ivory Coast game I was thinking it was just a matter of time before Ivory Coast used their size and strength advantage in the box, and ultimately it led to two header goals. This time I think the Colombian back line is better suited to deal with them. On the flipside I think that Colombian's attack is very difficult to defend and could cause trouble for Ivory Coast's backline. I do think the likelihood is that both teams will score, but I believe Colombia will be too much for Ivory Coast over the course of 90 minutes.

Colombia ML @ +117 (1.00 to win 1.17)
Colombia/Ivory Coast OVER 2.5 @ +110 (1.00 to win 1.10)


Uruguay/England- I think the prices being offered are a bit off, and that we are getting way better value on Uruguay than England. Obviously this is because of how terrible Uruguay played in their first match, but I would be hesitant to overreact to that. On the flipside, like Spain today, its hard to say whether this team will bounce back in a good way, or completely fall apart. I am quite tempted to buy out of my Uruguay future here with a play on England, but if the teams draw I am not really off the hook, and I feel like a draw is a fairly likely outcome. I do think both teams will score and have a slight lean towards the over, but it is not strong enough to make a play at this point. I can see a 1-1 game with both teams looking for 3 points, and the field will start to open up. This one might just be for viewing pleasure.

Japan/Greece- Prior to prior to the tournament I really liked this Japan team, and as it got closer I realized that this group just might not be a good group for them and after seeing their first game I can see why. I bet Ivory Coast, partially to hedge out of my Japan futures, but mainly because I felt like the Japan defense would struggle with the size and strength of the Ivorian strikers, and they did. Greece clearly are less threatening offensively, but play the game to score on set pieces, and I think they are facing an opponent that will give them opportunites to score on corners and free kicks. On the flipside, the Greek team proved that they defend well in the air, but Colombia's quick combination play on the ground proved challenging for them, and showed they can concede to a team that attacks this way. I think Japan attacks in a similar fashion and it might prove problematic for the Greek backline. As of now, I can see both teams scoring, and would give the edge to whichever team got the draw option, which looks like Greece +0.50, although it is at a fairly unattractive price. I am still tempting to buy the rest of the way out of my Japan future, as I think it is going to be a difficult run for them to get out of the group stage, but the current price is making that rather difficult.
