Today I like the Portuguese and Under as well.
.
I like Turkey but I won't play it as I'm not sure what will happen there

have you made your picks for cbuddies yet? there seems to be a problem on espn's site. when you get in, and click on "my entry", for the games today it has the words "no entry" where the pick boxes should be.

So after the 1st round of games in each groups:
 
Germany
Portugal
Spain
 
Holland...lets see i'm not on the bandwagon yet, they had a perfect game and Italy had a bad game it happen sometimes, dont count Italy out yet
 
 
Holland, Italy, Croatia ,Turkey or Czech,Sweeden should make the quarter final....

Bad mojo for me as well last night in bases after basically kissin my sis in soccer.
 
Portugal certainly seem like the stronger side in the early game. I believe they will handle the Czechs... hopefully it shows on the score at the end.
 
The Swiss - Turkey matchup gives us 2 teams that must win. A draw would favor the Swiss if Portugal were to win the early match, as they face Portugal in the last match, and Portugal will sew up 1st in the group with a victory; and thus, may well rest some players in that final group match.
 
The over may be worthy of consideration in the late match, as both teams will want all 3 pts, and of course, you cant win if you dont score... and if a team falls behind, goal differential will make no difference with no points after 2 matches; So the trailing team will be forced to risk, even if its early, knowing they'll likely need more than 1(equalizer) to stay alive. 
 
Allright P... lets catch some good Karma today.

I dont think Portugal will force today...i could even see them settle for a draw...again it is not how you start that matters but how you finish..team need to pace themselfs..
 
Second I agree both team will go for it, Turkey defense has many injuries bothe central defender are out...
 
I can see a 1/1 with like 10 minutes left and someone will get one,....who that is another question LOL

I think all this Portugal "settling" for a draw is nonsense.  You want that second win to secure your entry into the next round and can "settle" for the draw in your last game.  Portugal suffered the biggest upset in Euro history 4 years ago and will come out with something to prove.  You don't hang around settling for a draw because you can get burned in the last few minutes and end up getting 0 points instead of 1.  They learned that lesson with Greece in both of their losses 4 years ago resulting late in games from hanging around.  Even though it will be a very defensive game, I'm probably the only one in the whole world who took the over.

A draw against a Czech national team (even this one, which may have seen its best days behind them) is not a poor result.
 
I certainly dont see Portugal throwing all caution into the wind, as a loss would leave their fate on the result of one/final match... and we all know that in one game, that round ball and the futbal gods can punish you.

it all depend on the coach, and what they want, either relax today or next week...D dog I'm not saying Portugal wont win, but I wouldnt shocked me if they draw...
 
It could also be 3/0 Portugal win, who knows....that is why the play the games ....

Your absolutely right.  A draw wouldn't shock me at all either.  Its just that every forum and post im looking at it seems like everyone picked this for a draw.  For yesterday's game with a team like Greece who is 100% defenensive and hadn't given up a goal in over 400 mins of Euro play its completely understandable.
 
As you said though, this why the games are played and who knows what the hell could happen.  Good Luck.

If the czech dont open up the game and play like Romania it is going to be a WALL...granted Portugal is not France....

D-Dog I agree, Portugal will push hard for the win.  If they get the 3 pts today, it allows them to ease up in game 3.

The Portugal game comes down to how the Czech team plays. Portugal can surely step the pressure up when they need to, they have all the attacking weapons as well as a good partnership in the back. Peter Cech will also show up like he did the last game. He'll stop what he needs to in order to keep the Czech in the game. So that leaves us with the Czech's field players. Whether they can get a good offensive front against Portugal's defense is where the game lies.

I also like the over in Turkey game. Two teams that need a win desperately will go all out to get it.

Czech NTL and Under - I think if Czech can put won up early they roll..i see 1-0 Czech or 1-1 draw.
Turkey NTL and Over - I actually think Turkey wins this game outright..2-1 Turkey
