 Drain 1/4 of pool below jets. Blow out the pipes, shut off heater, bring in chlorinator and pool filter. Lock in the cover over the pool.

My pool guys friends in Florida were confused about what his job was up here. What do you mean you open and close pools. I guess not many have private pool owners have heaters down south.
