Thursday AFL preceding the Easter weekend to kick things off. The Pies and Hawks seem to be able to matchup well against the Cats over the past couple of seasons. Add to the fact that there will be no Ottens for the Cats and that they seemingly have forgotten how to kick straight taking the points in this one.

    Magpies +18.5 over Cats

Is this a play just based on value, or a play based on a solid feel, like on the first two ODIs?

Winners of the toss at the Newlands run out to overwhelming winners, according to the historical data Rod.  Are you going to wait for the toss and then back the winner of the toss?

Does Wigan have any shot (worth betting) to get inside the 8 at the JJB tonight vs Saints in ESL?

    Thanks, man.

I believe so. Derby game and the Warriors get the Saints at a pretty good time IMO. Saints coming into this game after their big win at Headingly last weekend in the Challenge Cup are in the middle of a pretty hectic schedule for them as they also have to play against Hull on Easter Monday. That's 3 quality opposition in the space of 8 days. They are also pretty banged up at the moment, Long, Cayless and Flannery all out for tonight. Wellens playing but is basically on one leg.

Only concern for me is the way Wigan played against Barrow on Sunday, from all reports they were shocking even though they missed a couple of players. Still worth taking a shot at home IMO with some coins on the ML @ +225

    Wigan +8 over Saints

Looking forward to seeing how Gleeson goes for the Warriors tonight

Thanks for the insight, Rod.  8 points, at least to me, does seem high for a derby, especially given the recent schedules.

Well, sounds like a plan.  Kickoff in 3 hours.

With you boys, but with a few points (+12.5).  Whilst the Saints dominated this derby in '08, i'm confident that a sold out JJB and the Warriors will be fired - means a lot to their season.  Yeh, it's been a poor start but the Warriors played well against Huddersfield - won the forward battle, were in it for 70mins but Brownies men took the points.  Hoping they were just complacent against the B-plonkers over in France - got the win there anyway.  The Saints have a short turnaround (yeh, same turnaround for the Warriors, but they didn't play Leeds!).  GL boys, and best wishes for Easter.

Kicking off Good Friday with the s14 game in Auckland.

    Blues -15.5 over Lions

A win simply won't be good enough for the Blues tonight, they have to do so with a bonus point if they have any chance of making the semi finals this season. The Lions over the past couple of weeks have been playing some pretty good rugby. However their confidence must be at an all time low after blowing a 19 point lead against the Chiefs last week. Blues are going to run riot tonight at the breakdown with the absence of Grobbelaar for the Lions and return of Blackie for the Blues.

    In the NRL for tonight

    Broncos -6 over Roosters

Hindsight is 20/20 but looking back last week that was a terrible spot to be backing the Broncos, which I did. There was a lot of hype around that game and around the Broncos team in general about them being premiership favourites and the fact that the Dragons have had the wood over the Broncos for the past few seasons. Therefore the way I see it that loss was probably a good thing for this team.

Broncos have been very dominant against the Roosters, both in this yearly Good Friday fixture where they have won every game since 2004 and in general where they have beaten them in 7 of the past 8 games played. The Roosters have been struggling up front to provide their backs with any kind of platform, they currently are the worst in the NRL in metres gained this season. Even though they put on 20+ points against both the Raiders and Eels, I still believe their attack is fairly anaemic and against a good defensive team as the Broncs they are going to struggle IMO.

Any feel on the Dragons over the Eels, Rod?

Haven't finalized it, but close to making that a play.

The trend this season has been whenever a team has been facing some kind of adversity for on field performances they invariably have managed to turn it around the following week. Which makes me hesitant laying the points with the Dragons against the Eels, a team that again they have not had too much success with in recent seasons.

I still believe the Eels don't have much of a chance tonight, I mean you can't just take away your number 7 on the eve of a game and expect the team to click in attack. Only positive for the Eels is that Hayne moves into centre. So going to pass on this one.

I think you're mostly right here, as the Chookins are a team that are gonna have probs with good teams.
