Noyce said it was time rugby league followed the lead of AFL and cricket and allowed fans to buy replica shirts with the name and numbers of their favourite player on the back.
So I can't go into Peter Wynn store tomorrow and grab myself a Hayne jersey with the number 1 on the back of it? 
hmm let's put that theory to the test tomorrow shall we

C'mon. Next time you go to a game have a look how many jerseys are worn. It doesn't matter two fucks what number the players 'assign' themselves.
You can't apply American 'logic' to every situation. I personally find American sport excessively commercialised and devoid of any sense of history or tradition.

The most commercialized thing about league and rugby are their jersey's. It's littered with pop up adds.
You wouldn't believe what numbers do to added jersey sails when they become synonymous with a star. Why the hell do you think the Bulldogs went Avatar on us, and you think that's tradition?
