Gould has a very easy position as a commentator from where he can throw stones at someone like David Gallop.

Gould doesn't have one one-hundredth of the responsibility that Gallop does. Gould has no concept of what the NRL had to in this situation as far as sending the strongest possible message that this kind of CHEATING WILL NOT BE FCUKING TOLERATED. 

Gould says "how is it fair to punish the Storm players?" How the hell is it fair to the rest of the clubs who comply with the cap to compete with a team that isn't within the rules ?? Its exactly like an athlete that's on steroids being allowed to line up against 15 other drug free athletes.

Where Gus does have a point is that the system needs to change and fast. As footy fans ask yourselves this - would you rather watch 16 clubs / teams that are as professional and intense as the melbourne storm are ? Or would you rather watch the kind of watered down salary capped rabble that the likes of the Brisbane Broncos are currently being forced to field each week ?

there needs to be discounts for players that clubs develop. The melbourne storm shouldn't be in this situation because they should've been rewarded for developing all those names that Gould rattled off on the footy show this morning. They shouldve been able to keep the team they have legally.

Gallops arguement that the restrictive salary cap enables every team to cycle its way to a premiership is bogus and boring. Why don't they just not even bother playing the comp every year and just share the premiership with every club every year over a 16 year period ??! becuase that's their ultimate aim. Its downright boring and its holding the standard of the NRL back and causing our best players to look elsewhere to recieve their financial reward they are entitled to.

U are right, it needs to change........If i was a club, i wouldnt develop any players from grass roots........I would just buy them off everyone else......No incentive to develop.....

Gould just points out problems which anyone can do,the tough part is trying to fix the problems or offering solutions to problems of which Gould has no idea.

Gould is the guy at your work who constantly whinges about what the boss should do to improve the company yet never actually steps up to the plate and gives it a go himself.


Gus Gould always wants more money for the players and the cap raised yet he never mentions where the money should come from.

you obviously don't listen to Gould or read what he writes. He has give numerous solutions, but no one listens.

People say he wants to scrap the salary cap (which he doesn't) and only wants to give the Roosters an open chequebook. The truth is the Roosters will be one of the worst off under his solutions

Gould is right in that the storm players are being unfairly penalised. He is talking about those that were playing by the rules. These players will have to put their bodies on the line every week for what? The NRL has penalised the the fans and the players. They have also penalised every other club that has to play the Storm. Not just in points they may lose, but also in gate takings

Gould rightly points out that the Storm have kept some of the top players in the game by breaking the rules. The rules are wrong, the salary cap should be much higher. The game generates how much per year? and how much goes back to the players?

And he was right. The salary cap hasn't evened out talent, it has thinned it out

Like his solution to offload Storm players to keep under the cap? LOL,don't worry about the breaking off contracts and other problems

What is wrong with that? The players offloaded will still get paid in full, and they are free to play elsewhere. From what I hear some players want out and they can be first to go

All valid points guys..I think both Gallop and Gould are more alike than they different..Must like political parties in this modern age.
I dislike both equally so no bias here...One major point that that they all seem to be forgetting is that negotiations for the NRL broadcasting rights are around the corner so the more they argue publicly about this,the more those rights will diminish in value..
Now is not the time for chest thumping from Gould or Ostrich like behavior from Gallop they are in those positions to improve the game as a product for it`s major stakeholders us the fans,not to demean and devalue it through their petulance..The NRL has already lost a motza through this debacle so if they continue to play it out in the public arena and not address these salary cap issues amongst other matters than this is going to cost all the fans dearly.

And FarQue,I agree about Gallop being inept,however he is not the most inept sporting administrator..That honor is reserved for Gary Bettman of the NHL...By a cuntry mile as well..
