Watching some rugby highlights and wondering if they are faster-

The wings appear to be really fast, especially this fellow Cacau and Rockocoker and Domiche and James Robinson and Doug Howler and William Rider?

    ARe they faster?

Wow they do look really fast although they are not wearing pads and helmets---

If so who is the fastest rugby player in the last decade?

Is this fellow Cacau faster than Deoin or Randy moss?

Depends dude.  A lot of NFL players can run a 40-yard dash in pads and helmet in 4.4.

Some wingers in union are just as quick.

Both comps have quick players.  Impossible to tell who has more.

Cacau is a bad example if you want raw speed. However if you combine speed with power it's not even a contest. Cacau wins hands down, in fact apart from Jonah Lomu was probably the best winger of the past 15 years.

Reggie Bush for me Saints averaged 27 mph on kickoff returns in full pads and helmet.  That is 45 km/h for you metric boys.

    Catch that shit.

    Not.

The winger for the U.S. Rugby Team handed Habana his O-Ring in the 2007 World Cup.  It's all relative.

    Both sports have fast mofos.

I dont see how Reggie Bush ran 45 km/h  when Christian Ronaldo ran 33.5km/h and USAIN BOLT was clocked at 36 km/h----

I doubt it Bush is faster than Bolt

Been watching RUGBY higlights a lot now and think the following----

I believe the CACAU run vs Scotland where he gets the ball on the edge and puts it into TURBO Boost and runs and then avoids a tackler wiht ease was the fastest i may have seen--

Second was the little Dominiche guy from France vs new zealand, he just blew right by new zealand--

Chavangha runs are also fast and he is really quick also--

There is also a big guy #11 for France who has some serious wheels and quickness for a big guy--

Jason Robinson is not fast, but likely the quickest athlete around, maybe in the world? He accelerates to full speed in 3 steps, he is really quick, would be an amazing slot receiver, he might be the RUGBy version of WES WELKER from the NFL--

William Rider is realy quick, more of a 40 yard guy though because in one game he allowed a SOUTH African defender to catch him when he was ahead, the guy was quick though--

Cullen is pretty fast, almost deceptively fast, runs with long powerfull strides and has good running motion--

Howlett is pretty fast, has good technique and speed also--

There is another speed merchant on ITALy, anyone see when the guy punted the ball vs WALES from midfield and ran his own kick down and scored and basically made up a 20 yard head start and got to the ball first-

Habana is very very QUICK and FAST-- he reminds me of BO JACKSON, a fast guy who can burn people, and has good long speed also--

I wonder how many Td's CACAU would score as a running back, I think he would the best running back in NFL history if he played in the NFL.

The Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has clocked nearly 28 mph in the 100-metre sprint.
But I agree, I don't see how Bush can clock a higher or equal speed, than the fastest man ever.

MNF, two seasons ago, versus Minnesota.  Bush ran two punts back for TDs and the peak of his runs were clocked at 27 mph.  Did he run the entire run-back at 27 mph?  No....he was averaging just over 20 mph.  But when he gassed it all out on a final burst around the last guy, he hit 27 mph and then slowed down.

Bolt isn't the only guy who can hit 27+ mph.

Bolt IS the only guy who can keep that speed for more than a second or two.

    Who is Deoin?

Randy Moss is slow.  Bad example.

Both sports have plodders and both have burners.  To try an figure out which has the fastest men is difficult, if not impossible to do.

    Not a chance

American players have access to far supieror training and nutritional techniques then local players, particulary islanders and aborigines, and do so from a young age. a typical american teen has access to simple rehab equipment that locals here don't

Put Slater or Inglis in the American system when they were 10 and they would be far superior athletes then what they are today. Give some NFL guys access to only what islanders have and they wouldn't even get drafted

You realize that Randy Moss ran a 4.25 40 yard dash right? That guy was not slow by any means. Actually one of the fastest to play in the NFL.

NFL players are superior to NRL players in every way.
Majority of NRL players are of Kiwi descent. They are heavy boned and naturally strong people.

I personally feel as though Indigenous (Aboriginal) Australians are freakish athletes. A lot of them are naturally blessed jumpers and are lightning quick. However, they are usually slender in build.

It's very rare you get freak athletes that are white.
Guys who have it all - Strength, jumping and speed.

In Aussie Rules, the only guy I can think of who had it all was Gary Ablett Senior.
Built like Adrian Peterson but could jump and run like very few.

Today, Lance Franklin is probably regarded as the most freakish athlete in the game. Only problem is he can't jump but he can outrun most players and stands 6ft'6 and weighs 242lbs.
