Roger Federer v Marin Cilic
Cilic could not stand in the way of Federer at Wimbledon last year and The Wolf says he will come up well short yet again. Federer has now won 8 of their 9 encounters including 3 of their 4 at the majors. The Croatian only win came at the 2014 US Open, his maiden slam win, on the back of a unbelievable serving performance. On that day we won 87% of 1st serve points and almost 60% of 2nd serve points. He will not be able to repeat that!
Roger is absolutely dialled in with his returns and after seeing him win 37% of return points against Berdych and 45% against Chung, he will be all over the Cilic serve. Federer is yet to drop a set in the tournament and The Wolf says this should not be underestimated. Had Federer been tested leading into the final we may have seen fatigue have some effect on the 36 year old. The fact that he is fresh and basically needs to play one great match to win the title, leaves Cilic in the deep end with no life line.
Mentally, Cilic is up against it and will be looking for any positives. One of them may be the 38 degree forecast. In theory it should see the courts play faster and provide the server will a significant advantage. Cilic has been getting his fair share of free points and if that can continue, he should be able to extend the sets. If he can come up clutch when it counts, he could push this beyond three sets.
Best Bet: Over 38.5 games ($1.91)
Value Bet: Sets Federer 3-1 ($3.70)
1st Set Correct Score: 7-6 ($3.00)

My initial plan was to stay away from the French game as I am an avid Ireland supporter , however despite the new guy ( yet another new guy ) at ten for France I like the look of the selected side. I think they could possibly win this but will be happy to look for the biggest plus. In Cardiff I am with the Welsh. A decent recent record against Scotland and despite the fact that Wales can come out the blocks a little slow at the start of prior 6 Nations I think they'll do enough to grind out a win and cover the small cap. I do fancy points in that one too , predictably. Finally On Sunday it's a guessing game whether England will run up a score or go through the motions. The Italians are generally better at the start of the 6 Nations and will have the luxury of being at home and possibly starting with their best XV. I can't forget how toothless they were against the Boks and the end of last year despite hogging so much ball. It's obviously important if they can score anything if you're planning on the plus. I'm still undecided just yet but will possibly think of unders or/and possibly Italy plus at the break. |

POOLS
Pool A - Australia, Fiji, Wales, Spain
Pool B - South Africa, England, Russia, PNG
Pool C - Argentina, NZ, France, Scotland
Pool D - USA, Kenya, Samoa, Canada
Early Team news:
South Africa - Without Nel and their Captain, Snyman which is a blow to their depth. Revenge factor will be huge with NZ winning in Cape Town. They need to beat England on Day 1 to avoid a Quarter against NZ
New Zealand - Joe Webber returns to the side and Caleb Clarke comes into squad for 13th man last weekend. Its a decent NZ side that will up their game in their own back yard. Tough draw for them as they face England/SA in Quarters and possibly Fiji in Semi's.
Australia - Without their Captain Lewis Holland, Boyd Killingworth and Jesse Parahi (Australia punched way above their weight last weekend and expect the bookies to over inflate their opening handicap)
Fiji - Without Nacaqu who is handy having bagged 50ish tries in the series. Their restarts were poor in Sydney and look for them for a big opening statement in game 1.
Canada - Rugby Canada is totally focused on their RWC Qualifier against Urugauy this weekend, this is massive and one of the reasons they were so poor last weekend (1st leg was last weekend). Phil Mack and Taylor Paris are in the XV's team and would have been in their 7s side. I think this is a big distraction for them ...

Yes France has been rubbish this year but nobody gave a garbage about the SA tour and in November half of the team was injured.
But looking at the last two 6 nations and you will see that France was improving and with a full squad this year would have a slight chance to win with Ireland and England at home.
On the Wales vs Scotland game, i don’t understand why the total points moved from 43.5 to 41.5 in few hours. No issue with the forecast and 2 pretty good attacking team with decent kickers. Taking more of it
Over 41.5 @ 1.90

I reckon Reds will be the weakest Australian team this year and I really like the Rebels squad : the addition of players like Genia, Coleman, Parling or Haylett-Petty combined with Hodge or Mafi and the whole managed by Wessels could be a very good surprise this season after a disappointing 2017 Super Rugby.
The only player unavailable so far is Koroibete and the only worry I have is the friendly game last week against Waratahs that Rebels lost 47-5 but still going with dnb and handicap.
