2019 Covers Golf Contest

Once again it's about that time!  Football is in the playoffs...basketball is getting rolling along...hockey I guess is something that people pay attention to...and it's time to kick off another episode of the Greatest Contest on Covers!!

This year we're going to try and kick it off on the correct week...weird I know.  It's gonna be big-time different with the schedule change-ups from the PGA this year.  

We will be starting off with the Farmers Insurance Open on January 24th...the week in between the AFC/NFC Championships and the Super Bowl.

The regular season will run 28 weeks until the Wyndham Championships at the beginning of August.

We will have to make some changes more than likely for the playoffs with there only being 3 events this year.

As usual we will have 8 events that are double points...slight change this year to make it more interesting down the stretch.  (Masters, US Open, PGA Champ., British Open, WGC-Mexico, Players Champ., WGC-FedEx, and the Wyndham in the finale)

Each week you will select TWO golfers from the field and you will receive their score for the week.

You can only use a golfer ONCE during the season.  

If you pick the winner of a week, you will receive a -10 bonus from their winning score.

In the majors, we have a 3rd round bonus selection.  You pick anyone in the field, even someone you have used, and they do not count towards your yearly picks.  If they have the lowest score in the 3rd round of the major, you get a -5 bonus.

A MC/MDF/WD/DQ will result in you receiving a score equal to +5 of the worst finishing golfer for that week.

I am still debating on the ability to use a winning pick twice in a year...the only negative is I don't think it's fair for someone to use a Top 5 player in the world twice while someone gets Cameron Champ as the guy they can use twice.  Please comment below with any pros/cons.

This year I'm gonna be more of a dink and hardass on following the format with posting your selected players.  We routinely have 20-30 guys in the contest, and once we get into the meat of the season, it's pretty tough following who you have used on a week to week basis.  For that reason, PLEASE post ALL selected golfers in a cut/paste format each and EVERY WEEK.  I've posted an example from one of my picks from last year to clarify what I'm looking for.

WGC Match Play - Luke List, Matthew Fitzpatrick
Houston Open - Steve Stricker, Phil Mickelson

As long as we don’t break tradition and not start over in February! That was so exciting last year!! Starting over cause people are idiots is what this is made of!

Each week starting with the Farmers Insurance Open I post a thread for that week...you just have to show up and post your plays...I do ask that you try and participate the entire year if you are going to be in the contest

We've pondered the cash prize aspect for the past couple years but didn't want to upset the Covers higher ups...alangrrbs does a seperate fantasy golf contest for money if you want to check that one out.

I say let it ride and don't change anything.  Thanks for your work CM.
