This is probably getting old, but the Lakers have missed this bet only ONE TIME in the playoffs (against Houston).  And of all the wins, only one was close (1/2 point in 2nd half of game three in this series).  I think the public perception of the Lakers as a high scoring team bumps up the O/U, and everybody forgets that they can play D too.  Even on games that have gone over, they easily hit under in one half.

Well, if you go ahead and bet the Lakers to finish this series out, you'll be betting that they'll buck a major trend they've been riding this entire post-season, which is that they do NOT respond well to success.

You'd also be betting that Orlando is essentially going to give up on concede the game on Sunday.

I feel like this team is much different then say, a team like the Denver Nuggets, who were obviously crushed psychologically by their loss to LA in game 5 of that series and came out with basically no energy in game 6.  You could tell by overhearing George Karl's "wired" huddle speech during a time out when he told them they were acting like they were down 20 points during a stretch where the game was still relatively close.

Orlando, despite having a younger team is, in my mind anyway, a much more mature team and they'll probably come out with a lot of pride and a desire to not end their season at home in front of the fans.

As close as these games have been, if LA doesn't come out with a very high energy level (and again, it's hard for me to expect that they will given both their behavior all season long and especially because they've got two chances back in LA), Orlando wins this game by at least 6.

By the way, has anyone else noticed how weirdly similar this year's series has played out to last years, only with LA in Boston seat.

Game one:  home blowout
Game two:  a close one, but winning at home
Game three: close game but losing on the road
Game four:  coming back from a large deficit to steal one on the road

Game Five?  : well, I ain't superstitious, but last year's result would certainly support my earlier post

good post..  I really can't disagree.  I'm a diehard laker fan, but I'm really hoping Orlando can win tom.  that gives Laker fans and educated bettors an good excuse to lay down the chalk hard on LA in game 6.

yeah, i noticed that going into game 3.  Initially i was a little hesitant to call for a repeat of history, but i've certainly bet it like i've been feeling the deja vu.

Absolutely Devlin.  I got the Lakers at a nice +200 series price a couple weeks ago after they lost a game, so my plan is to go small on Orlando and then big in Game 6.  If the Lakers were to somehow lose both, I'd bet my 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger on them in Game 7, and I've had that mother humper since high school!

I agree with all that and we took my friends fathers dart swinger out for some doughnuts in a gravel parking lot once without him knowing it

i think LA in game 1 last year wasnt blown out.  They actually at half and for alot odf the game and then falter in the 4th.  I believe you are talking about Game 6 when the lakers by like 40 or something. 

I think I agree with you though.  I always maintain LA will win only 1 out of 3 in Orlando.  Game 4 was their winner so Orlando will take Game 5.  Im such a big Lakers fan that I may just play the o/u.

I'm hoping the same. Come game 6 I will lay it down HARD. If we can just get to game 6...

Who in there right mind, would want to prolong the series just to play at home? Im sure they have their family there and would love to end the season asap. If they do lose its not from a lack of trying

I have my money on the Lakers to win series -270. However,
I'm glad VanGundy don't realize that Rafer Alston should have played 48 min. Truth be told the series would be 2-2 if the Magic Kingdom would have played Alston the entire game. He plays with no fear. He is the only Disney character that Laker bakers should fear.

I don't understand why gamblers think that LA wants to win this in LA. This is for the championship! Get it done! Do you honestly think that LA is not going to come out and kick some ass! They are the better team. I would like to see more offense; Taking LA at +3.5 and the OVER at 198.5 presently in Vegas. I am looking at the total from a situational pov.  That is the rational that Orlando only has 48 minutes to save its season and they shoot 62% like in Game 3. This type of situation may present more fouls, thus more points. I am hoping for a track meet, technical fouls (3) and a chipping game. LA should be the favorite.

KOBE has urgancy for this CHAMPIONSHIP.
 
Fishers first public comment afte game 4, was NOT what great shots he made BUT rather the last time, in 2000, the Lakers were in this position they lost by more then 30 points to Indiana.
 
Lakers and KOBE are focused they WIN this game.  LOTS of points.  No Way Orlando wins....Look at the LINE!!!!!
