Denver at Los Angeles (05/19/2009)

 

shy anout going to the rim?  come on man, did you watch the series against houston?  He didnt take it to the rim because battier and artest cut him off.  and when he did make it past the lane was filled up.  The rockets knew how to guard kobe and had the man power to do it.  The nuggets on the other hand have no one to contain kobe and thus he will take advantage and end up at the free throw line for 12-14 attempts. 

I will not be betting this game but i like the lakers laying the points here.  They will not want a repeat of the last series where dropping game 1 at home put them in a dog fight.  BOL to all.

In my humble O., alot of people are allowing recent Laker inconsistencies to scare them away from the this spread, which is understandable, but I believe, a mistake.

I see the Jekyll and Hyde act not as a harbinger of doom but rather as part of the process of a young team still learning to become champions.  Derek Fisher brings that up from time to time and even Kareem suggested as much in a radio interview not long ago.

It also makes it conveniently easy to forget that the Lakers are still, top to bottom, the best team in the NBA. 

And I believe that we haven't still seen the best of them in these playoffs as they continue to round into form since the return of Andrew Bynum, whose presence on the floor, throughout an entire game (when staying out of foul trouble) makes them truly, one of the deepest teams we've seen in a long, long time.  It seems like it was such a long time ago that it's easy to forget what kind of impact he was having, not only in terms of numbers, but also his presence in the lane on both sides of the floor, before he went down during the regular season.

And though we haven't seen it as often, it's clear that when inspired, the Lakers actually have the size, speed, and athleticism to play defense as well as anyone. We saw it at the beginning of game 7 v. Houston and we saw it, waaaay back at the beginning of the NBA season when memory of the dropped 39 in Boston was still fresh.

I'd also like to add that while you've got to look long and hard to find a team that's given up more points than the LA Lakers, here come the Denver Nuggets.

By the way, I just noticed a pretty good number for them right now of +160 to win the championship, which is more value then we've been offered on LA in a long, long while.  And while they'll probably have to do it on the road, in Cleveland, I think they've proven they can.

As for tonight, I think they'll be ready.

The Houston series was a wake-up call.  And they know good and well what kind of ball Denver's been playing recently.  That's a nice, nice team with everything it needs to give the Lakers a hell of run.

But I agree with the theories of rest = rust so I like LA in the 1st quarter (like most here), as well as for the game.

This is very important game for the Lakers, in terms of re-establishing their identity.  After letting Houston sneak into Staples and take game one, I don't think they'll allow a repeat.  If they play the right way they'll win by at least 8 tonight.

Got the Lakers -2 1st Q. Took the Nuggies +6 1/2 for the game.

Hey backward Moneymaker - once again - congratulations on NOT picking a team or over/under so you can look like the "hero" and Mr. "I told you so" AFTER the game. .....P.S. - - Knowing backward "Moneymaker" like I do, he "bought up" the Nuggets to +50 and has the "under" of 400 - - no one's gonna respect you until you start betting like a man.....

For this game so Far my biggest bet is The Fakers Q1 ML (history says they win 11 out of 11 against Denver in Q1, gotta ride it, especially at Staples center and Denver on 6 days no ball, Lakers still riding high on game 7), Then Denver +16.5 (yup... bought the 10 up at -775), and Over 204 (yup again... bought the 10 down at -500), and IF I lose more than one of these bets I will hedge it live or in-game to get it back.

All he did was pick the Lakers 1st Q. Thats where he put his money. Lakers 1st Q. I took 0 runs 1st inning in the KC game. No winner. No over/under. I don't care who wins that game. I tailed rekamyenom and wangichu, (and a few others), for different prop bets on the games and did well. Learn who to tail and you'll do good....
