Carpenter on swhort rest and Holliday's bat is out of the lineup. Holliday is a key loss. But the main reasons why I think Texas wins are their resiliency, closeness, past history, and karma. Resiliency of Texas is shown in the way they haven't lost b2b games since August. Guarantee they lost a few, close emotional games in that stretch and bounced back to win next game. Ofcourse none were a strike away (twice) from the WS Championship. But they have the character and heart to regroup.
Which brings me to the team's closeness. The Rangers have a close group of guys who support and enjoy playing with one another. Which is why they are resilient, and also why they can bounce back from such big loss. Not saying Cards aren't close as a team, it's just a little different with Rangers, including the manager. Washington is very close with his guys.
Then there's the recent past history. Many of the Rangers recall exactly how terrible it felt to lose the WS last year. And I guarantee in a do-or-die situation they'll do all they can down to the last ounce of effort not to get back to that low.
Finally, the big one, KARMA. The Cards celebrated like mad last night. Acting like they just won the whold damn thing. And as I watched it, I began to look at the Rangers players. And I saw a bunch of them watching the Cards celebrate as they slowly walked to their dugout...eyes fixed dead on the Cards. That karma for a wild, premature celebration will bit them in the ass. Just watch! You got a group of guys in Texas that felt the sting of losing the WS last year, watching the Cards dance around like they just won the WS. The pain these guys felt last year just resurfaced thanks to St. Louis. But guess what, the Rangers have another chance to rid themselves of that agonizing pain and feel the ultimate joy...and it's only a day after.
Normally Carpenter vs. Harrison would scare me and make me lean to SL. But not after seeing the Cards dance around and Rangers watching them do it. I saw the looks in some the players' eyes. It's on tonight. Rangers get revenge, Cards blew their wild celebration wad a day early.

this might be pushing it, but does anyone like the prop bet "most total bases" beltre vs puljos. beltre +110......my reasoning is that in tongihts game i dont see ron washington letting puljos swing the bat, i can see him being intentionally walked 2 times. that leaves him with only most likeley 2 other at bats. i like those odds.

You are right about one thing in your post..."days of rest" are always considered the days in between starts...in Carps case, he pitched Monday 8pm EST, and he's pitching tonight 8pm EST...sound it out with me, it'll make it easier on you...days of rest are Tuesday+Weds+Thurs=3 days...gotta love the noobs
