Weekly Winners - Updated Prize Schedule

Still working with the doggybag to finalize the total prize payout schedule, but have this update for the weekly prize:

$100.00 to the player with the best unit total for weeks 1-17.  Ties will result in a rollover to the following week and be available to all players.  A week 17 tie will go to the tied player with the best overall win percentage for the season.

$50.00 to the player with the second-best unit total for weeks 1-17.  Ties will also result in a rollover to the following week and be available to all players.  A week 17 tie will go to the tied player with the best overall win percentage for the season.

Please disregard the previous forum thread for weekly winners.  All weekly winner results will be posted on this forum thread from here on out.  

DirtyDawg wins $100 for best unit total week one (+490 units)

We had a tie for second place in week one between lordflies and gsonkoy24, both with +370 units.

Therefore second place for week 2 is now worth $100.

WEEK TWO

mikeyd17 and hoffusma69 tied for best unit total with +580 apiece.

Tarheelod 2nd place wins $50 + $50 rollover from week one.

Week three will be worth $200 to 1st and $50 to 2nd

WEEK THREE

Brofito wins $100 best unit total and $100 week 2 tiebreaker

mango2003 wins $50 for second place.

 

OK, I know this will sound self serving, and it is too late for this year's pool, but I just read the payouts for week 2. Mikeyd17 and I tied for first, and got nothing. Yet Tarheelod finishes third and gets the second place money? Am I reading this correctly? I have always thought that, as hard as it is to win a weekly prize, that first place ties receiving no credit seemed wrong, but I had no idea that the third place finished got rewarded. I think this rule should be reviewed for next year.

I considered your point in the offseason but ultimately went with this format.  However I will reexamine for next year, as I do with most of the rules and prizes.

Personally, I think the current structure creates a need for strategic play in the weekly contest, especially when it comes down to picking on Monday nights.
