Noah isn't original... the Epic of Gilgamesh, Ziusudra, Coxcox, Sraddhadeva Manu, and Deucalion...
Jesus isn't original... Asklepios, Dionysus, Apollonius of Tyana, Krishna, Mithra, and Horus...
The bible is like a really, really, bad movie. It is poorly edited, poorly written, contradicts reality and all the material is copied from other fictional stories.
DL, 14daroad has had almost 4 pages to respond to those questions. He's a weapon of mass deflection. I doubt 14 or bowlslit will respond anymore.
Yeah, someone uploaded the educational movie to vimeo.
Ive seen it 4 times already. Science is cool.
I wish I would have seen this early... I would have bet against it...
The fact of the matter is that neither reality nor outside perspectives will change their mind that you are stupid... even when what they post and their evading your questions is obvious, along with multiple posters laughing at their childish and classless antics...

Like... oh my GOD... you named 4 of the 40 politicians and that means all the writers met Jesus personally
Oh my god, I haven't asked questions? Do you even know what a question is?
Deuteronomy 22:28-29, If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
Question 1. What do you think of this?
Judges 19:22-30, A mob demands to rape a godly master's guest. The master offers his daughter and a concubine to them instead. They take the concubine and gang-rape her all night. The master finds her on his doorstep in the morning, cuts her into 12 pieces, and ships the pieces around the country.
Question 2. What do you think of this?
Kings 2:23-24, From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.
Question 3. What do you think of this?
Question 4. How old is the earth according to you?
Question 5. How many animals were on Noah's arc?
Question 6. Was the story of Noah's Ark real?
Question 7. How old was Noah when he died?
Question 8. Who were Asklepios, Dionysus, Apollonius of Tyana, Krishna, Mithra, and Horus?
Question 9. Is the Jesus Christ story original?
Question 10. Do you believe in a talking bush, a talking snake and a talking donkey?
10 simple questions
did either of those yahoos answer the 10 simple questions?

Don juan, Bahai Holy Spirit, J'ew Holy Spirit, the Muslim Holy Spirit, the Hindu Holy Spirit Brahman, Pneuma, Holy Ghost, Holy Breath, Holy Wind, its ALL BS. How can you accuse me of not reading a book. When you can't even comprehend what you read.
If you knew how to read, we wouldn't even be having this debate. Do you know i went to catechism, received my holy communion, and was baptized. Look up the word catechism, i doubt you even know what the hell the word means.
Did you know i was raised catholic. Nope, you probably didn't because you can't read. I love to read, you should try it sometime. All you religious nuts say, "you never read the bible". I wish i could give you a quiz. You would fail it.
Just like all the other blind worshipers that follow the bible, but never read it and can't comprehend what exactly they are reading. I once believed in fairy tales, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the boogeyman, and the bible. Then i grew up and developed critical thinking.
Dl36, Why were Mithra, Krishna, Apollonius of Tyana, Dionysus, and Horus rejected, but Jesus Christ was excepted? Why did people reject Mithra, Krishna, Apollonius of Tyana, and Dionysus?
The story of Horus is almost identical to Jesus, but existed approximately 3000 years before Christ. I wonder who the politicians were that chose Jesus Christ as their savior over Horus?
There are 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 are considered deities, and i wonder why Jesus Christ became the most popular one?
Another thing i find interesting is that Moses was trained for high office, or even the throne of Egypt. Moses was familiar with life at Pharaoh's courts and the pomp and grandeur of Egyptian religious worship.
Moses was schooled in the writing and literary ideas of the time. Moses witnessed the administration of justice. Then 40 years later, Moses creates a story that resembles the Egyptian story of Horus.
What kind of coincidence is that, DL? Moses studied writing, studied politics, studied on how to be a politician, studied Egyptian religion, and after that, a story similar to the Egyptian story of Horus was invented.
I hope the next step in evolution is critical thinking

Money, You obviously have not read the Bible from cover to cover.
You have no earthly idea about the Holy Spirit, ......why ?
Perhaps, because your heart is blinded/hardened from the truth.... until you accept The Father, and The Son. even a child as that sense.
You are such a fool.
Children also think that Santa Clause comes down their chimney once a year, the tooth fairy leaves them money under their pillow, and the Easter Bunny brings them candy.
Maybe we shouldn't give the sense of children so much credibility.

I am a Christian, I follow the faith, I read the Bible, I am raising my daughter as a Christian.
That being said. I have questions about the divinity of the Bible. I believe that it was divinelyinspired, but I realize that we only get a fraction of it in our modern bible, due to revisions that took place hundreds of years ago. Thus I think that the word of God gets muffled, like a game of telephone. To where people believe that God hates gays, and endorses wars. The Jesus I know in my heart, was of peace.
I also have questions about the divinity of Jesus. I was not there, and did not see him rise. Very least he was a good and dynamic man of peace that that spat in the eyes of an oppressive empire.
I believe Jesus lived. I do not think that the character is a composite. I wonder at times if some of the stories of Jesus could have been exaggerated and imbued with elements that didn't take place, but take them for what they are worth. Life lessons.
I also know the history of deities that came before Jesus. I understand the similarities, and Maybe Jesus did too. Maybe those who told his story later understood the power of a common story, and maybe those Gods of a different time were ascribed virtues that we feel are Godly. I do not believe that it is direct plagiarism.
I am not going to pretend like I have all the answers, and I am not going to pretend that I know better than you because I have faith, all that I think I deserve is the freedom to practice my religion free of persecution. Would it be too hard to ask for a little bit of respect?
I see atheists taking a very disrespectful stance against people's religion and I think it is terribly sad.
What would it hurt to be kind?
I have my faith, and I am not going to assault you with it.

Money.. I'd really like to quiz you instead, without a computer available.
It's plain to see that you have not read the Bible from cover to cover. because you're getting hostile. But you still will not have an excuse on that great judgment day because as the Bible says,, creation is plain for all to see, and the Word has gone out from one end of the earth to the other.
I'm not going to get into a great debate with you. It would not help anyway if you do not know or have the Holy Spirit within you.
I was raised the same as you, catechism, alter boy, etc. Mass was said in Latin, not English, except for the Gospel. My family was very religious. Aunt was a nun for 80 years, she died last year at 101. We had many discussions. So please don't tell me about Catholics.
Peace be with you,
I wish you well.

When I talk about atheists being disrespectful, I do not necessarily mean on this board.
I did have to close my reddit account due to the hatred though.
I appreciate your post prior to this one. It's probably the most reasonably, well thought out post by a believer I have read yet (Bowlslit also had a good one, not sure if it was this thread or another).
I believe the respect aspect of atheism/religion is a two way street though.
You can easily go on Youtube and find videos of both sides bashing each other. I'm sure we could go round and round trying to find out the initial bashing, which would be pointless anyway.
I think atheist like David Silverman go to far in trying to make their views more mainstream. I don't like the idea of "recruiting" anyone to try and share your beliefs. I think the best means of spreading an idea is to put out the information on both sides and let individuals decide.
One thing I heard Silverman did say that I liked was he encouraged people to read the bible, by themselves without anyone else around trying to interpret it for them, and make their own conclusions.
I do think religion, especially Christianity in America but this could also go for Islam in numerous Islamic countries, is more widespread because of the fear of speaking out and questioning its teachings and doctrine.
Many religious people, Rostos and SJD especially, believe their is no objective morality without God. Yet someone bombing an abortion clinic, the Olympic Games in Atlanta, or murdering infidels in the name of Muhammed or Allah is completely ok by their standards according to some of their leaders. Despite their claims that their religion is one peace and furthermore the fact that it violates one of the ten commandments of Christianity. Same goes for adultery according to Pat Robertson now. Not really sure how you can have objective morality when the leaders of your religion are giving the go ahead to violate those same morals they expect others to uphold.
My beef isn't so much with God, if this entity exists, because I firmly believe that if he does exist he would be disgusted with religion right now. My beef is with religion and those that blindly follow it without questioning it.
If people study their a religion and choose to follow it peacefully without bothering or harming others in the name of that religion, then by all means, follow it all you want. I just think there are to many people, especially American Christians, that just blindly follow religion because their neighbors do or it is popular in American culture. If those same people were born in Saudi Arabia, the same would be true for Islam, although in a much more forcible manner.
I just know that I have had religious folks from a wide variety of Christian sects knock on my door, stop me as I go on about my daily business, set up shop on various campuses, and do whatever else to try and convert me to their religion and make me feel guilty or threaten me with eternal damnation if I didn't follow their beliefs.
I've never had an atheist do any of those or threaten me or my soul in any way.
I still plan on studying and learning more about varying religions and secular beliefs because there is so much more to learn about this subject and I encourage everyone to do the same. Who knows, maybe I will end up convinced that a God exist and there is one true religion. I just think people are doing themselves and society a disservice by not continually learning about this subject.

I would list more but there are over 3,000+ of them... I'd be here forever...
Rick, All these are fake, but the one you believe is real? I'm completely baffled at your logic?
Rick, You believe that that the bible was divinely inspired. Basically, all mythology is "divinely" inspired. How can someone say, they know the history of 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 are considered deities, and believe Jesus is the real one, and say the rest are total BS?
Rick, It doesn't have to be direct plagiarism to be considered plagiarism. I'm baffled at how someone could read the story of Gilgamesh and the story of Deucalion.
Then, actually believe in Noah's Ark?
Rick, I'm baffled at how someone could read the stories of Mithra, Krishna, Apollonius of Tyana, Dionysus or Bacchus, and Horus.
Then, actually believe in the bible and Christ?
Rick, Why do you believe in, Jesus, but not, Horus? Why do you believe in the Virgin Mary, but not, Isis? I am completely baffled by it?
Rick, How could you possibly believe 40 days and 40 nights worth of rain, that's over 700ft of rain a day. How could you believe in a 900 year old man. How could you believe in a boat, with millions upon millions of animals, food for millions of animals, feces of millions of animals, the weight alone would be in the tons, made of only wood and no metal reinforcement, floated the earth for an entire year. On top of all this, its not an original story.
The Egyptians have continuous historical records for hundreds of years before and after the time of the flood that make no mention of a great flood. This shows that they were not only not aware of a global flood, they certainly were not greatly affected by one.
Outside of the Bible, there is no historical or physical evidence that would place a worldwide flood during the time period specified by the Bible for the great flood.
In order for me to believe in religion, i have to believe in talking snakes, talking donkeys, and a talking bush. And i have to completely ignore, that Moses studied politics, studied Egyptian religion, and the story just happens to resemble the Egyptian story of Horus, which i know, Moses knew about from studying Egyptian religion. And, i am not capable of doing that.

My theory is... the Epic of Gilgamesh, Deucalion Krishna, Mithra, Dionysus, and Horus all pre-date Jesus.
Moses created the story of Noah's Ark from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Utnapishtim the god Ea told him to build a boat. He gave him precise dimensions, and it was sealed with pitch and bitumen.
His entire family went aboard, together with his craftsmen and "all the animals of the field. His boat lodges on a mountain, and he releases a dove, a swallow, and a raven. When the raven fails to return, he opens the ark and frees its inhabitants.
Moses took for the story of Deucalion, also, to create Noah's Ark. He took the part where Zeus one day decided to destroy the human race. So he asked from Deucalion to build an ark. Deucalion obeyed, and when he built the ark and gathered all the necessary supplies, he entered the ark with his wife.
Zeus then opened the heavens and it rained so much that all the land of Greece transformed into a sea. For nine days and nine nights, Deucalion's ark was wandering around, until finally it stopped at the top of Mount Parnassus. Suddenly, the rain stopped, and Deucalion with Pyrrha stepped out of the ark and made sacrifices to thank Zeus for saving them.
The writers of the bible took the idea of a virgin birth from Krishna, Mithra, and Dionysus. The bible writers took the idea of a man sent from heaven in the form of man from Krishna's story. The bible writers took the idea of wise men guided by a star from Krishna's story.
The bible writers got the idea of a nativity scene from Krishna's story. The bible writers took the idea of selected disciples to spread the message from Krishna's story. The bible writers took the story of casting out demons from Krishna's story.
The bible writers got the idea of 12 disciples from Mithra's story. The bible writers got the idea of "the good shepherd, "the way, the truth and the light, redeemer, savior, Messiah from Mithra's story.
The bible writers got the idea of changing water into wine from Dionysus story. The bible writers took the idea of ascending into heaven and being buried in a tomb and after three days rising again from Dionysus story.
The bible writers took the idea of Herut trying to have Horus murdered and created the story of Herod trying to have Jesus murdered from the story of Horus. The bible writers took the idea of being baptized in a river at the age of 30 from the story of Horus.
The bible writers took the the story of Horus being baptized by Anup the Baptizer and created Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist. The bible writers got the idea of John the Baptist being beheaded from the story of Anup the Baptizer being beheaded from the story of Horus.
The bible writers got the idea of Jesus being taken from the desert up a high mountain from Horus being taken from the desert of Amenta up a high mountain. Bible writers got the idea of walking on water, healing the sick, and restoring stight to the blind from the story of Horus.
The bible writers got the idea of Jesus raising Lazarus from the grave from Horus raising his father from the dead. The bible writers got the idea of crucification from the story of Horus. The bible writers got the idea of women announcing the resurrection from the story of Horus... if that is plagiarism, i don't know what is... checkmate

The bible writers got the idea of women announcing the resurrection from the story of Horus... if that is plagiarism, i don't know what is... checkmate
I can't prove where water came from. However you can't prove that God put it there while he was creating the earth.
The only difference is I am saying I don't know while you are making a claim that God did it, which you can't provide any evidence for. Saying "it's in the bible" isn't evidence either.

Rick, All these are fake, but the one you believe is real? I'm completely baffled at your logic?
I don't know if the others are real. I was not there. I have hitched my wagon, so to speak to a religion and follow the teachings of Jesus.
Rick, You believe that that the bible was divinely inspired. Basically, all mythology is "divinely" inspired. How can someone say, they know the history of 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 are considered deities, and believe Jesus is the real one, and say the rest are total BS?
I believe there are things that we can not explain therefore any rationale I give you won't be satisfactory to the standards you have set. I never said the rest were total BS. I believe that God is synonymous with Ultimate truth, therefore I believe that parts of the bible that contain messages of love and peace are ultimate truth. I am sure that I could find "God" in the form of ultimate truth in the teachings of many of the 3,700 supernatural beings.
Rick, It doesn't have to be direct plagiarism to be considered plagiarism. I'm baffled at how someone could read the story of Gilgamesh and the story of Deucalion.
Then, actually believe in Noah's Ark?
First, I wasn't there.
Second. There are not only similarities in Gilgamesh, but in Native American and Hawaiian mythology.
I am not sure why a story in the Bible would make me lose my faith in God. I have already stated that I am not sure I believe in the divinity of the bible. I do not know that the stories need to be taken literally, and I suppose it is entirely possible Noah's ark could have been plagiarized. I just don't have definitive proof.
Rick, I'm baffled at how someone could read the stories of Mithra, Krishna, Apollonius of Tyana, Dionysus or Bacchus, and Horus.
Then, actually believe in the bible and Christ?
It is faith, it is not rational, I accept that.
Rick, Why do you believe in, Jesus, but not, Horus? Why do you believe in the Virgin Mary, but not, Isis? I am completely baffled by it? Most of it would probably have to do with not being raised in Ancient Egypt. I was raised as a Christian in America.
Ok
I guess I won't see you on Sunday at Church. Your Decision to not believe in God does not change my life one bit. I am not going to attempt to "convert" you, or verbally beat Jesus into your life.
I find value in my religion. I find value in raising my daughter as a Christian.
Your choice is a personal decision and I respect that, furthermore I respect you as a person that is capable of thinking for yourself, and making your own choices.
Let's have a little mutual respect and put our biases and bigotry for the religious on the back-burner.
Shall we?

Money.. I have just one question for you, that I have asked atheists, evolutionist. . Not trying to get into baptism ...But
How do you suppose all the water in the oceans got on this planet ?
If there is no intelligent design !
OK, fine, Rick, believe what you want to. I will say, i think what you're doing is harming your child, not helping her, IMHO.
Don Juan,
Religious people believe god simply created itself, without a creator, is eternal, and created everything.
Cosmologists believe the universe created itself from nothing, without a creator, and created everything.
One side has god creating itself and creating everything and the other has the universe creating itself and creating everything.
Both theories are hard to believe... I side with the cosmologists, but i am open minded to the idea of "god" creating the big bang.
The point i was trying to make with my posts isn't that god doesn't exist. I'm not an atheist. I'm anti-religionist and agnostic.
The purpose for me making those posts was to show that all religion's are nothing more than mythology. The bible is nothing but a book filled with mythological tales and all the writers are guilty of plagiarism, just as i proved in post in post #162.
Gas energy exploded, nucleosynthesis happened, and supernova explosions created 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom to create water. Everything, including us, is made out of stars. All the answers are found in studying cosmology.

JC is a power play... political, social, financial etc...
sounds like someone is taking a kool story and plagiarizing it and seeing who bites...
that there was a successful system in place and he took the ride over after the fact...

I wish I would have seen this early... I would have bet against it...
The fact of the matter is that neither reality nor outside perspectives will change their mind that you are stupid... even when what they post and their evading your questions is obvious, along with multiple posters laughing at their childish and classless antics...
funny how "they" cut-and-run after I posted this...
