@Raiders22 Well I bought at 29 last year and I have purchased this brand for multiple years so the price increase was from 2024 to now specifically. Buying an imported item off Amazon means you can use tools to trace price history (camel camel) and you can track price movements even though it is not perfect its reasonable. Same goes for other imported items as I mentioned a while back, I buy the callets for baking at RD since you cannot find a decent priced high quality baking chip anywhere else and the price for that has also risen 50% year over year, I purchase certain items only at that place since you cannot find them elsewhere. Same goes for stuff like crab legs, Chilean seabass etc etc all have gone out of control pricing in the last six months. Even at Costco I purchase their store cut Chilean seabass portions because they are larger if you can find than RD and the price is lower. In the last year the price went from 17 a pound to now it is 27 a pound for their butcher cut portions.

Callet is like a round more oval chocolate chip which is not as common but is considered more artisan and to me is far superior to any domestic chocolate chip type product including most mid to high tier US chocolate. The brand I mentioned before has different tiers based on cocoa percentage etc.
RD is Restaurant Depot its where most mom and pop places purchase all their goods for their restaurant from produce to meat to cheese to paper products almost anything commonly used in a restaurant and most often cheaper than say Sysco because there is no delivery fee you go there and pull a massive cart around their warehouse and check out yourself.

Similar to tariffs, Trump $100,000 fee on foreign worker visa adds to cost of business. Economists warn that undermining legal immigration risks lower economic growth, employment but higher inflation.

One thing I will add is that I often say that Europe can be a sort of leading indicator on some of the issues the USA is facing, or will face soon, with cultural issues. But I think a good case can be made that the same can be said for economic issues as well.
The GDP per capita is lower than it was in 2008 in Britain. The taxes are higher. Which means people have less money
One reason that Europe is struggling is the worsening economic situation and part of the reason for all of the movements right now.
In 2014, I am sure it is even worse now, the EU had 12% of the world’s population, 25% of the world’s GDP, and 50% of the welfare spending. And the economy is not growing.
Until they get rid of the obsession with net-zero, millions of people on unemployment because they are a little bit anxious or depressed this will carry on. Because people are poorer they are frustrated with mass immigration and especially illegal immigration. Like one guy said, he is a single father and works very hard, yet he sees people being put up in hotels.
If the economy was growing rapidly, or even decently, you can cover up these things.
If people had more money and things were going great, they would not be so stirred up over all of these things. But that is not what is happening. So, this is really beginning to swell up into a big problem.
So, the government now has to get the economy growing as well as address all of the cultural issues. Otherwise, the extremes will inevitably arise. This is not even taking into account the huge fertility rate problem and its discrepancies.
Some of this will eventually show up more and more in the USA, and I think the debt issue will only exacerbate the cultural problems along with the economic concerns.

If that new Miran guy in the FED gets his way - you are in for one hell of a ride - then the inflation procentage will easily more than double, maybe even triple almost instantaneously (within a month)

There is a distinct possibility of that...

Every person who participates in this forum has biasregarding a multitude of politically involved issues.
EVERYONE!
Nobody is 100% impartial. We are humans...it's not even possible!
WSC has as much right to post his views/opinions here as everyone else!
I not only welcome his participation, I applaud it - as I consider them as consistently among the most intelligent, fact-based and logical on the board.
The only people who should be "censored" from participation here are those who violate Covers.com rules, which are laid out clearly in the TOS. Direct, personal attacks [behavior!] are the most frequent violation on *ALL* Covers. com forums, including here, but other forms of negative behavior [see TOS] should not and are not tolerated on this PRIVATE website.
WSC has the most taxing moderating job at Covers.com, bar none! I've been boxed before, several times, and he was absolutely correct each and every time. I umpired fastball and refereed basketball for 15 years in the 70s/80s and I know firsthand how difficult it can be to referee - particularly when there are seemingly an unending number of "close calls" and when it becomes highly charged emotionally, like here.
Just like getting handed a speeding ticket, there are far too many dopes whining at the cop because THEY got caught speeding. Some idiots even whine that the cops shouldn't be allowed to drive on the same roads they do! Many consider such fools as "trolls"
Keep posting and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, WSC!

Countries impose tariffs to protect domestic industry and generate tax revenue. But economists generally consider high tariffs bad for the US. Increasing inflation and unemployment. Decreasing standard of living and economic growth. Average global tariff rate is 2.6%. Under Trump administration, average US tariff rate increases from 1.5% to 27% the highest rate in a century.

$100,000 visa for foreign worker is part of Trump administration anti-economic growth policy. Since many firms cannot afford $100,000 visa, brain drain is likely to harm US productivity. Making it harder to hire skilled positions could risk firms offshoring operations rather than hiring US workers.
