I personally wouldn't want my teenage daughter dating a thirty year old but individual states have decided what the age of consent is.

Now, just because Ted Nugent votes Republican and dated a teenager thirty years ago doesn't mean I'm going to become liberal. This has no bearing on my political philosophy.

Issues like this, Seamus the Dog, politicians saying rape don't cause pregnancy, and imaginary TEA Party members using the "N" word are just deflection from legislation and policy.

i agree except for the part about the moron who thinks the body shits down after rape or rape can be legitimate or whatever these nuts say.  how do you expect to get reasonable legislation and policies from warped nutjobs who think like this, which is to say, rightwingers?

The senatorial races in Missouri and Indiana would have been won by the Rep's if that wouldn't have been said so it did have an effect on the election. I just don't think it would have had any bearing on legislation when it comes to the economy and national defense.

If you ask a fiscal conservative what those candidates said and Nancy Pelosi saying...

1: We have to pass Obamacare to see what's in the bill.
2: unemployment checks stimulate the economy

We would put all of those comments in the category of nuts.

no, i'd put the rape guys in the cateogry of nuts.  i'd put pelosi in the category of dumb and/or typical bullshit artist politican who is just out to serve her special inetrests.  they are practically all in the second category but the religious nut rightwingers largely occupy the first category.

canos, thank you for the respectful reply... 

I think we see eye to eye on the personal issue... I do think however that just because it is legal does not mean I think it is okay...

I think that turning liberal because you do not support the culture of a 30 year old having sex with teenagers does not make sense...  there are an infinite shades of grey between turning liberal or being a GOP partisan lemming...  

but I do have issue with how politicians think because of what they will do based on their world view and assumptions of the world...

So it is not about cant get pregnant while raped... It is based on the fact that a someone that thinks in this manner about that topic will make decisions based on that same type of thinking... 

so when it comes to this as individuals I think we make our own decisions on what we see as tolerable...  honestly I said I thought the whole dog cheapshot battle was both sides and did not make a difference to me... 

nor would have the results of romney's tax records ... but it effected how I thought about his character because he refused to be transparent... 

so to lump them all these individual events together and try to run them out of significance seems too simplistic...

like I said I would have voted for newt had the GOP chosen him because his personal life did not effect what I thought of him and his experience and ability to lead...
 
especially because he did not do anything with a minor... you can go bowslit and try to label me a liberal because I see issues concerning minors/children differently... but I just cant turn a blind eye... just like I cant with woody allen... it would be poor strategy to parade around woody allen...

I think there is a  is difference between those that are politicians and know they are lying... and religious nuts that have been sold an elaborate package of lies that they blindly follow with no critical thought... 

It seems that trying to lump things together with out analyzing them properly can lead to overgeneralization
