Washington — President Biden issued the first veto of his presidency on Monday, rejecting a republican bill that would have nixed a Department of Labor rule that gives room for retirement plan managers to consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in their investment decisions.

Biden veto allows pension fund managers freedom to make investment selections for any reason. However republican bill is a mandate to disregard woke reasons although clients may prefer ethical investing. Oddly, GOP don't realize that awareness of social injustices is a good thing. Nothing shameful about saving the world from global warming, diversity in hiring, giving women the right to control their own bodies, equal rights for LGBTQ Americans, everyone paying their fair share of taxes and students taught history as it happened instead of whitewash version.
