I totally agree with you.......and would have not voted against Obama; but for John McCain.....which is inheriently different than most in this forum....I was uncertain about the Palin pick initially...most should have been.....I am not anymore..
So, yes....what I said initially..and reiterated many times....that had McCain made a sane choice, I would have gone that way....the choice of Sarah Palin was...and I have been consistent on this....the single most insulting, abusive, insincere decision that John McCain has made in his political career.
I rank that decision worse than his inability to remove himself from the Keating problem...he was young and probably felt, at the time, that he was "skirting the problem" rather than being part of it.
All career politicians...all of them....have skeletons in the closet.
Financial, sexual, immoral, illegal........whatever....and the more powerful that they want to become...the more potential for problems....it's the Business of Politics...both sides...all sides.
I am a realist.......not an idealist (that was the early '60s)....I went to war in a country where we did not belong (and could not learn from the British and the French why we should not be there...domino effect be damned)....came home more conservative, more centered....and, again, more a realist.
Prior to the conventions, I felt that John McCain had 4 good years left in him, I liked his use of men like Lieberman to advise him, and thought that he had enough "IOU's" on the "HIll" that he could cash in on to help move us out of our mess...domestically and internationally........then came Palin.
Hockey Mom, Joe 6-pack, gotcha journalism.....might work well in local politics.....but on the international stage....a joke. An insult.
JoP.....No one in this forum had John McCain as there, even, 3 rd choice.....then comes Palin.....The more I listened, the more I felt abused and was being manipulated.......If you honestly do not have a problem with why and how John McCain chose Sarah Palin....then please vote for him....I am not going to write in someone, I will, as they say on Covers.com..."FADE MCCAIN"...
