I remember the first time I heard her speak after the nomination in a radio interview..I was impressed and liked what she was saying..

Senator Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein was also on Mondale's short list ..

There were rumors going around at the time that her deceased father allegedly had ties to Sicilian Mafia ..I wonder if her family was from the same part of Sicily ...as your own Don juan ?

You think a VP selection turned a Mondale win into a 49-state landslide win by Reagan?  I guess that makes sense here at Covers, where people constantly blame the moose for horrible all of their sports wagers.

hate and fear... it is simply the life blood of these types of people...

the problem is that disabled often included vets from Iraq and all the reckless spending of money, resource and lives...  With all the saber rattling sending soldiers into battle s something they seem to be supportive of until the come home injured or disabled...  then they are a burden of the 47%

Why should the American people sign onto any treaty that would supplant American law, and give any sovereignty to the UN?

one reason- republicans have a very serious public relations problem and sometimes it's better to not look like you hate every single group outside of rich, white, healthy, old males when the alternative is not, in fact, that guys in blue helmets will be knocking on your door any day now to stop home schooling. 

sometimes, a cost/benefit analysis is in order assuming the intellectual capacity exists to conduct it, as easy as it may be.

1. i give a darn about women, and

2. if the fiscal cliff is not avoided, our debt will be reduced and we'll get much closer to a balanced budget in a few years.

Club I did not see your post responding to mine.

I am fine with legislation that originates in our own legal system, and follows constitutional law.

I am against giving up any national sovereignty because I feel it is a bad precedent to set.
Our laws that care for disabled Americans are better than the in ones. Why would we sign on to lesser standards, and In so doing give up our sovereignty.

rick, this vote was merely symbolic.  no one here would be losing any sovereignty or anything else to the UN or any other country.  to me, it has to do with the republicans' image which couldn't be much worse when it comes to minorities.  why give the democrats more ammunition to paint the republicans as the elistist party who only gives a garbage about old, white, rich and healthy males?  someone in the republican party needs to understand which battles are worth fighting if they ever want to get back to a party with some semblance of competency and normalcy. 

assistance to the handicapped which obviously includes the injured veterans at a time when republicans are perceived as hating all minorities and all troops once they have no use in the war machine?  seems like a no brainer to me.  of course, it can be a no brainer and still well beyond the grasp of today's republican party leaders.

So we should adopt UN law and forget the constitution and existing US law?
Fuck that. I am glad at least some members of congress realize that giving up sovereignty (the ability to make our own laws) is against everything we should stand for. Should we have the UN choose a Goldman banker to put in our highest office as in Greece?

it's a cost benefit analyses.  in reality, what do we lose?  i'm going to say nothing.  absolutely nothing.  what does the republicans gain?  maybe an initial step on the long road back to sanity and not hating every group that isn't the few characteristics i mentioned.  the whole idea of "choosing your battles" is completely lost on today's republicans.
