yeah, once the smoke clears, there is some irony with all the republicans calling for akin to drop out. of course, we all understand that they are calling for him to drop out not because of what he says and believes but because they want to win that seat, regardless of how, and now that is less likely with akin.
but the whole idea of legitimate rape and no abortions under any circumstances and then the irrational religious minded nonsense to justify that position by saying a woman's reproductive system may shut down after a rape, or whatever, are not new concepts on the republican side.
akin represents what many people in the GOP voting base believe and how they think... but they are just playing politics...
Its like the birther issue when the GOP tried to get their people to stop talking about it because it made them look like extremist wackos...
The GOP already have the extremist partisan lemming wackos believing what ever they are fed regardless of what fact or medical science says... as evidenced by the partisan lemming wackos on this forum...
This is a ploy to try to stop the independents and moderates from being completely turned off by what a large group in the GOP base and how they think about issues and worldviews...
seems like good strategy to me considering the cards they have been dealt/dealt themselves...
