Where has this poster been?

The problem isn't with the Republicans as a whole, but rather, how they are allowed the Dems to define the issue solely by pointing to the extreme statements of those on the far right. Do most Republicans want to eliminate abortion or deport all illegal immigrants or have people die on the street for want of health care? For years, the Repubs didn't have to run on a platform..they just opposed Obama, but as Obama moved center on issues, the Repubs vocal wing came across as extreme. This made it easy for the Dems...just oppose the extreme position without really offering a plan of your own.

The new immigration plan is hardly extreme and quite practical. The funny thing is it is really an incorporation of Repub and Dem ideas for years...when politics is set aside to create a solution. And the solution is one that hispanics should credit to both parties.

When Bush II was in office, the Dems never offered any plan...only opposed his. The Iraq War was a perfect example. The Dems solution was literally that we should have had Superman spin the Earth counter-clockwise enough times so we didn't go. Was awful for the country and I really attribute that political climate to some of the problems that exist now because no one cared about solutions...rather just attacking the other party.

The immigration solution gives me a glimmer of hope and really shows that in some very tricky issues, the practical members and sides really aren't that far apart.
