giving illegals a free pass, and permission to stay, is not addressing the problem...  Closing the border, and allowing the border patrol to do their jobs, as detailed by the laws we already have, must be the first step... If he indeed, executes his executive power, how does that help us, the American citizens?  easy, it doesn't... it will only add to the already out of control border crossings that we have running across daily....

You have to turn off the water supply, before you can repair a busted water pipe

Obama is out of touch, giving him a small amount of credit, in case he ever was in touch...with every single aspect of what is good for the American people, and what the American people want.

i think saying giving illegals a free pass oversimplifies it.  there are a certain number of people children, who need to be dealt with.  some may say they should be sent back, some jmay say they should be able to stay and some might take some middle ground position.  but having them in limbo with no status is a problem for them, for potential empliyers, for school and other segments of our society.  it needs to be dealt with.  so, if he lets that group stay, that does address the issue.  whether you like the way he addresses it is another matter.  and i do think it helps the american people because to suggest the immigration problem is limited to those immgrants massively oversimplifies it.

these people have been here a long time.  there are a lot of them.  many have kids who were born here.  many will have kids who are born here.  we need to figure out what to do with them not just for them but for many other segments of the society.

as for the greater issue of dealing with illegals coming in and getting  rid of the ones all or most of us can agree need to go,  i agree that it is pointless and a big waste of money without first securing the border.  but, realistically, that just isn't going to happen.  logistically, financially, politically, it isn't happening.  not by obama, not by a republican president, not by any congress.

as for you your last sentence, i'd say all politicians these days are only in touch with the people who spend the millions they need to win elections.  that being said, i think obama has been pretty good on the immigration issue given the complexity, size and duration of the problem plus the limited resources.

We all know, there is enough wasteful spending, that would indeed finance securing the border... Then after secure, allow the border control agents to do the job that they were hired to do.. Apprehend, and deport all immigrants who are here illegally.. I understand there will be numerous instances where based on their circumstances, where they should be allowed to stay, but the overwhelming majority, would be rounded up, and sent back...  They then need to enforce the law, that no one can employ illegal workers, and if caught doing so, fine them an amount that really hurts their bank account, and if ever caught again, put them out of business...  This in itself, would put an end to them being so anxious to come here... and would not be worth the risk, of these employers allowing them to work...

i think you're referring to two different sets of people.  there are the ones illegally coming across the border.  the size of this groups ebbs and flows with the strength of our economy.  we have a border patrol that is supposed to address this but there aren't nearly enough to do the job correctly.

and then there are those who are here and have been for any numkber of years.  the border patrol doesn't deal with them.  we really have no way of even approaching a strategy to deal with that group and it would take years and a massive amount of money and logistical changes to our system to try.  as i've said here for years and have been right so far, that will never, never happen.

i do agree that properly punishing employers for hiring illegals would maybe put a dent in the issue although not come close to solving it.  but, a lot of companies have and continue to make a lot of money hiring illegals.  that money controls these decisions.  those people don;t make decisions that cut off that kind of money supply.

"Try and stay with me here.  The topic is about Obama deceiving the public and thinking that they are stupid.  I agreed that the American public is stupid and he is right about that.  I don't feel deceived and I like my Obamacare.  I'm saving a ton of money and got to keep my doctor".

what are you even talking about?

How is it possible that a non-partisan independent cannot understand what I said.  I was on topic and made myself very clear. You on the other hand have contibuted nothing and seem frustrated.  Troll much?

"Try and stay with me here.  The topic is about Obama deceiving the public and thinking that they are stupid.  I agreed that the American public is stupid and he is right about that.  I don't feel deceived and I like my Obamacare.  I'm saving a ton of money and got to keep my doctor".

what are you even talking about?

How is it possible that a non-partisan independent cannot understand what I said.  I was on topic and made myself very clear. You on the other hand have contibuted nothing and seem frustrated.  Troll much?

The topic is Grubergate .... Obama's health plan scam  ,,,,not immigration..

But ,I can understand why the Liberals and non-partisan representatives of this site ( who always agree with and caucus with the Libs) want to change the topic at post #20 to immigration..ROLF ..

    Some things are just indefensible.

Obama said Gruber wasn't on staff, and had no say so in Obama care.... and Pelosi said she had never heard of him    This whole administration is an embarrassment...

I am a firm believer that health care reform was and is needed, and I have been advocating for it for several years. It needs to be done correctly, though, and in a way that does not create different levels of access and treatment.

You are a very smart man Dr. Ben Carson.

The state of Vermont has stopped payment on the contract of Jonathan Gruber...On Wednesday, Lawrence Miller, chief of health care reform for the Gov. Peter Shumlin administration, announced that Vermont would stop payment of Gruber’s $450,000 contract with the state.

Vermont was going to pay him $450,000 for his comedy act ...LOL

Gruber is the pinnacle of arrogant academic Liberal elitism........

wow you looked scared by that civil discussion and dialog...  I didn't think it needed a "bail out"... but obviously you did...

Whats weird is that I dont always agree with anyone or any side... thats why you have to try so hard to paint a picture otherwise...

what even weird is this idea of "caucus"...  what are you talking about?  Ok I get it that you and the rest of the "circle jerk crew" need to ban together and agree with each other because your view often does not hold up with out some solid "group think" and agreement...

But other than the circle jerk crew there are plenty of progressives, conservatives and independent that do not require an imaginary "caucus"...

Is that really what you picture in your mind?

    a "caucus"

Hopefully this helps you get some perspective before you lose it and go psycho-stalker... but perhaps there is no need to as the angry stalkers have been in full bloom lately and will come to give you a "bail out" soon...

Not sure I agree. Not disagreeing, mind you. I am simply saying that they would have more backlash. They would be called some unreasonable names and I am not sure how politically savvy it would be to do that just because of race. I think nearly everyone understands nobody is condemning Obama's policies because of race at all. Not one political person has done this, period.  And anyone politically on te other side that says so is being desperate is all. You don't want to get into a situation where you feel obligated, or that you can, condemn the president just because you also are black and, therefore, won't be seen as racists. Then it looks as if you are doing it JUST because you are black.

The title of your thread is misleading. Obama has never plotted anything. He has always looked to others to do that. He has never, and never will be, confused as a deep-thinker or plotter.

Good call Raider. The Left does have it both ways with race. If the caucasian disagrees with o he/she is considered a racist by the Left. If men like Watts and West go after o it would be because they are African American. Race has the Right tied up in knots. They need to find a way to untie the knots created by this dilemma.

No offense. But claiming to be nonpartisan doesn't make it so. I haven't felt that you were non partisan.
Detox was wrong in the post you referred to.
Republicans don't need to improve their race image. Plenty of good black republicans.  It is tough to compete with, "Here's some free junk you are entitled to, and Repubkicans hate you."  The Democrats are the ones that need to change their image to help people of all races realize that they can do okay for themselves, etc. If republicans 'change ther image' ;  they will simply become democrats in that aspect.
It is not just all old white guys; plenty of mixture of young republicans now. Also plenty of old white guy democrats. Just more pilaver spread by the nonpartisan democrats.   Don't continue to fall for the okey-doke Matt---you are better than that.

Raiders defense comes rushing in trying to make a goal line stand....

    "defense! defense!"

    lol

but I disagree....  base on the history and the current party, GOPs can and should improve their race image...

and simply marching out an african american candidate to do the exact same agenda is poor strategy in my opinion...

The attitude that the GOP does not need to evolve or improve is silly to me...  If that is the attitude of the party, why would we choose that type of attitude to lead the nation?  do not seem like good leadership to refuse to believe that they need to improve....

If GOP think african americans vote purely on free junk as they have been conditioned to believe that is how minorities vote, than they would never win over minority voters...

It is actually this type of thinking, scapegoating, and angry rhetoric that turns off minority voters...  the solution is to stop that type of campaigning and "Repubkicans talk" to its own base to make itself fell okay...

and instead create a platform that is not based on telling you why dems hate you, but instead what exactly is it that the GOP is doing for the common person and not the rich...  and what the GOP is doing not to help minorities, but admit the mistakes in the past and show they are not doing those things any more... the GOP needs to approach the people with honesty about their past and rather then giving minorities and easier path like with affirmative action, they need to create a fair one...

meaning drop the obsession with voter ID for starters....

but this would involve a party that is willing to improve and evolve for the betterment of itself and the nation...  and I am not sure the party and its base is up to the challenge....

At least it does not appear so

He can prove it to you guys by listing conservative issues he agrees with.
