I think you can have serfdom in capitalism or socialism or any other ism.
In a run amok capitalist society, there's no unions, so the factory I work at is a nightmare of horrors and I get to consider myself lucky that the boss pays me minimum wage for 16 hours a day as I try to survive the shitty work conditions, but at least I'm "earning a paycheck."
In socialism they just mail me a check and I don't even have to get off the couch.

Look, there is always going to be this tug of war between the haves and the have nots. Always. You want to talk about conscience? It's my view that NOBODY makes $10, $15, $20 million a year without somebody, somewhere getting fucked royally. I have kids too, and I'd love for them to grow up on a clean, peaceful planet where rich people actually realize most of their wealth is luck and give back, not abuse their power to try to get more power.
Fuck this idea that we HAVE to live in this cold, harsh world, where the only thing that matters is economic growth and money. I'm not even remotely religious and I feel like I have more of a soul than these conservatives.
