I had the chance to actually watch some TV the other night, and caught some of the R "debate", adn it got me thinking as to why so many say that Ron Paul is so unelectable
first, he is obviously on a higher level of intelligence than the rest of the crowd on stage. When he speaks, he sounds like someone that knows what they are talking about, especially compared to the other three blokes that looked like they could use a teleprompter, because much like our current POTUS, the depth of their debate skills ends with a mixed mash of talking points
secondly, and i've come to realize this is likely his biggest fault, he is very likeable and friendly, and anyone paying attention to politics knows that HATE is the flavor of the day. Everything in politics (or at least the EHollywood brand that everyone prefers to participate in, revolves around hate and being angry. Hate Obama, Hate Palin, such and such last ten presidents were all the worst. If you don't fall into the hate category, then it's not fun to include you in the political sphere, because humans have devolved so far and know and understand so little of the world around us, that their easiest reaction is to fall back on what you hate about everyone and everything. Ron Paul doesn't much fit that bill, he looks like everyones funny ole' grandpa
Newt is scummy. He sure talks his book, but he doesn't want to touch any real issues, because he doesn't seem to have any solutions for anything.
Problem solving requires a few traits. One, you must first identify the problem, why its a problem, before you can attempt to land on a solution. Time and time again, RP can illustrate quickly what is wrong and how he feels the country ought go about fixing it. Within his ideas, always seems to be a plan. People that struggle mightily with problem solving all seem to flock together and bash Paul, however, he is pretty hard to bash relative to the rest of the crowd still in the running(including the fascist opposition on the left)
The three most important issues this election, are Economy.Housing.Health, and RP is the only one with any kind of plan outside of the Left/Right Eholllywood politics crowd key words RAISE TAXES CUT TAXES LESS GOVERNMENT LESS REGULATIONS MORE SOCIAL PROGRAMS MORE TAXES crowd
He is a dr., so one could assume that he might actually understand that the problem facing healthcare in this country isn't that everyone isn't giving their fair share to the Health Insurance industry(how on earth people could think that growing the rent stream to the person'd out rent seeking industry of so called insurance would somehow lead to better health is beyond me, but id digress). Disband the FDA/USDA and the food pyramid goes away, stop subsidizing ag land and dictating what people grow, how much they pay for it, which controls the national diet, and all the misinformation and central planning goes away. Maybe if we're lucky, individuals educate themselves on what a proper diet is and in an instant you have halved the strain on the national health system, as the majority of health issues are nothing more than bad diets.
How to fix housing, well we've all heard the guy talk his book on this one, and it's so simple and inarguable, that it seems to confuse people that have been trained that further complicating a problem is the only path to solution (when in reality it is the means by which to grow government). End the MID, end all the subsidies to the housing industry top to bottom, dump fannie and freddie, AND LET PRICES COME IN. That is how a market works. What we have now woud only be allowed to exist in a world controlled by government.
Once you fix housing, you open the door to fixing the economy, because we all know at this point that insolvency of individuals, corporations, and the biggest corp of all the USGOV, is what is drowning the economy. Jobs and JOb creation is all hoopla for the E Hollywood politics crowd. It is another way they use your brain to justify growing government, as mindless sheep will beg for more government spending for more government jobs, because, what else could we possible think of? The new New Economy is here, it's just not widely distributed yet. The advent of the information age has blown the rent seeking model apart as people have free access to information, the middlemen get middled out. Look at any 'job' that has been loss, and try to find the benefit of it. Automation has removed the need of so many monotonous tasks, free information saves energy as people are no longer at the mercy of the middle men
These are the best of times, and things aren't nearly as bad as the television would like you to believe. Todays Political Industrial Complex thrives on Fear and they love that you are living a nightmare, that is how they keep control over you. Turn off the TV and look at the world around you with an open mind, and you'll begin to realize that all the bullshit drummed up fear, is just that , drummed up bullshit
RP doesn't seem to subscribe to drummed up bullshit, which is probably why he only garnered 13% of the vote, while NEwt got over 40%. In this game of Go Fish, you got what you wanted
And if the Harbaugh bros go head to head for the trophy in two weeks, i will too
