It is going to be hard for a white Democrat to get elected.

Hillary will cry and then say she doesn't care about attacks that take place on American service members, then talk about (in a fake southern accent) the time she left two heroic seals to die.

Biden will tell a racist joke, and smile and laugh maniacally. Anyone who thinks this guy has a chance against anyone other than an equally embarrassing joker (Donald Trump?) has a screw loose.

Depending on our level of misery as a country we could have a severe swing to the right.

Before you Dems get your panties in a bunch, think about this. Clinton left office with the best approval rating of any president post WWII and somehow the country swung to the right anyway.

(if you consider Bush the W) right.

Swung to the right? Right now, a so-called black socialist, one of the most liberal president ever, just defeated the GOP, twice. The Republicans as they stand right now are unelectable as commander in chief.

When Ronald Reagan left office in 1988, the Demos were unelectable, Clinton brought the party back from instinction. So it could happen, but the Republicans aren't showing any signs of life yet.

you may be right but i see two differences. one, the demographics are different and seem to be moving away from republicans. two, there is no right. sure, there is the wacko social conservative right that is good for soundbites and the jon stewart show but no fiscal conservative right and i don't think the former is well liked by the some of the major voting groups.

Rick - Demographics are shifting and it isn't helping the GOP at all. Whites made up 77%, 74% and 72% of the voters in 2004, 2008 and 2012 elections. In 2016 they will likely make up about 70%.

Obama lost whites 60-40% to Romney but won non-whites by about 70-30%.

Obama won the national vote by about 4%.

The shift in demographics alone gives the a Democratic candidate about .5% extra of a margin.

If the GOP couldn't beat Obama with unlimited amounts of funds, a government "takeover" of health care, unemployment mostly over 8%, endorsing happy marriage, Bengazhi, etc it is pretty clear that the public hates the message and they need to rebrand themselves. I'm not sure that they quite realize this. The pendulum swings in politics but will the GOP self-destruct by telling themselves that if they nominate a "real" conservative that they will win this time?

Hillary is no rock star. She both benefits and suffers from being a former First Lady. Meaning she is well known and recognized so voters probably have a pretty set view of her either for or against (no matter what she says or does)...

Prom ark, since you are familiar with the Dems, far more then a conservative minded person like myself, do you know of any racial minorities that the Dems could run that will bait the GOP into more racist rhetoric?

I seriously have little hope for the future of this country.

We have a president that just allowed insurance agencies to write legislation which went all the way to the supreme court mandating that the government can tell you to buy something. it is exacerbating an already dreadful unemployment issue.

We have joined a suicide pact with Japan, and the Eurozone in a race to the bottom with quantitative easing and currency devaluation. Essentially starting a currency war.

We have funded and aided every radical islamist group in the middle east, hoping somehow that they will stop targeting us with the weapons we provide. Forget about fast and furious guns killing the Mexican beauty queen, how bout our own ambassador killed with guns that were most likely provided by this administration. (on top of it, you have that fat ankled girl Hillary Clinton crying one minute and screaming that she doesn't care about motives of terrorists the next), and she is most likely going to be the next president, if she can stop falling down and having mystery brain aneurysms, or whatever the hell it was.....

So while we arm Al Qaeda and the Mexican Drug cartels these idiots think that the best thing to do is limit the gun rights of the American people. AK47s are good enough for our enemies Mr. Pres. Why can't a law abiding American own one?

News this week comes out that Killing Americans in drone strikes is Legal, Ethical and wise (according to the White House), and everyone on the left now agrees that it is the best thing since waterboarding (which I guess they now support).

I am just at a loss.

I know Things look pretty bad for the GOP, rightfully so, they run turd after turd after turd. The only hope I can see in the future is a Rand Paul/ Bernie Sanders ticket, or something that radical.

I don't know why most people think that the country will get better when we keep on electing the same people over and over again.

We vote on abortion, and happy rights, when our country is literally on life support. It is completely crazy, but I guess it speaks to the idiots that vote.

I know what I want to see in the next election, and it is not another Clinton, another Bush, (are there any more Kennedys, I hope to hell not), or anyone like Ryan or Rubio that is essentially the new generation of the same old Karl Rove NeoCons.
