Trump reasons for tariffs on allies don't make sense.  As long as Americans want to buy drugs, other countries cannot stop them.  Countries are most responsible for keeping people out.  Not to prevent drug carriers who are overwhelmingly US citizens from returning home.  Under 1% of fentanyl and under 2% of illegal immigration come from Canada according to US homeland security department.

Economists don't see US having trade deficits with most countries as bad.  Most deficits occur naturally and not from unfair trade practices.  US as the richest country can afford to buy more than what it can produce.  Huge buying power allows US to enjoy higher standard of living.  US dollar as world currency enables US to take advantage of cheap imports and loans.

Polls show most Americans oppose allowing an unelected and unaccountable billionaire to run government.  Risks in abuse of power in a plutocracy.

While lavishing their millions on the Donald for getting their tax cuts extended, didn't they know the tariffs could cripple their businesses & destabilize the economy? For example...

Howard Lutnik, Commerce Secretary nominee, owns Cantor Equity Partners. Tonight's biggest pre-market loser (CEPO)is his company & they are down 40% right now. In fact, Dow, Nasdaq & S&P Futures have all plummeted & Bitcoin is below 95k. I'm not a market genius but even I know that's not good.

Did you know Howard Lutnik was a business associate & neighbor of Jeffrey Epstein?? How could he not know that Epstein was a deviant scumbag but continued to do business with him? 

Concerned about this supposedly "shaking the box" strategy of Trump (can also be called the bully kicking down the sand castle)...Denmark has spent untold billions on Greenland, energy and time...and a lot of patience and perseverance to allow Greenlanders to preserve their language, culture, traditions, while at the same time preparing them for a modern economy, bureacracies, taxation, visas, and so on....and for Trump to send his sons and various envoys to entice the Greenlanders with promises of instant retirement (like glass beads of the 1500s) is gut wrenching. I hope the Greenlanders will see how other islands have fared under American influence, notably Okinawa--which is unlike any island of Japan--or Hawaii--Honolulu is indistiguishable from LA. And look how no Native American tribe was able to preserve its language, customs, religion, and their close ties living WITH nature was denigrated and called "savage." Their culture placed into museums as relics now. Denmark should be commended for transitioning Greenlanders to the modern global community, while preserving their culture.

Are these punitive tariffs on Canada, and public calls to join the US simply trolling for policy? Or is it "shaking the box" to question long developed relations and alliances? Is demanding Germany pay 5% GDP for defense a way to forge new alliances altogether?

The US is seen as a promoter of freedom, democracy, free trade, human rights, and this helps other western countries to stand up to Russia and China. China is the largest mercantile empire humanity has ever seen, and they are purchasing more ports, mines, farmland, and gold reserves.....they are a game changer for everyone.

And russia is forever bothering its neigbors...let's not forget they border just about everyone....and they will have every generation, some new idea, way of life, new technologies....to threaten its neigbors with, and this will be the reality. They now are introducing new modes of banking, commerce, trade....

These are real threats to smaller nations.

If Trump is moving us to a purely transactional relationship, then we will lose an ideological connection, and our values will become scattered as old alliances are fractured. I guess this is what you voted for.

A Goldman Sachs report showed a dramatic surge in 'short' positions against US stocks  a move that signals a belief the market is headed for a crash. In January, investors placed 10 times more bets on American stocks falling than rising.

Other presidents in the past have much more restraint. This madman is a loose cannon as proven by his 1st two weeks in office.

See very few news outlets reporting that Mexico has caved to Trump's tariffs and has agreed to put 10,000 troops on the border in exchange for a one month delay of tariffs.

 For over a year now Mexico has stopped over 100,000 people from entering the US. The Donald got bupkis because Mexico was already doing their share of interdictions.

Early last year, Mexico interdicted roughly 100,000 migrants at its southern border or inside Mexico per month, while the U.S. was apprehending over 193,000 migrants monthly at the U.S.-Mexico border. This year, more migrants are being stopped inside Mexico than in the U.S., with over 280,000 being interdicted in Mexico and 189,000 in the U.S. in March, according to figures obtained by NBC News.

INACCURACIES:

Putting troops at the border will not make one iota of a difference in fentanyl smuggling because 98.8% of this did comes into the US through ports of entry carried by Americans! 

The Donald walked away with his little pecker exposed when he  promised Mexico to do something about the smuggling of weapons from the US into Mexico.
He negotiated troops at the border that were already there for 4 years.

The Donald never seems to have any of the underlying knowledge on any issue. He doesn’t read anything. He just takes info verbally from anyone he thinks might have a deeper understanding. So people like Navarro or Bannon or Miller or Hannity tell him something and he accepts it as correct because: 1. they’re a Trump loyalist, and 2. they have the special insight he doesn’t have because he’s too busy running his mouth to read. The world doesn't trust a word he says. 

He got played for the fool we all know he is.

The Canadian border security package was announced in December when Biden was POTUS. Trudeau announced his $1.3 billion border security plan under Biden.

The Donald and Republicans lied about the border all of last year. They continued to call it an invasion even as Biden reduced crossings from Dec 23 to Dec 24 by 85%. So how do Trump and Republicans solve a border that they terrified their base about when it has already been solved? Make a big international mess to be able to turn around and say that Trump's threats got other countries in line, and now the border is under control.

The Donald created a crisis and then “solved” it with something that was already happening before he took office.

He consistently tries to take credit for the work of others.

A grand total of TWO pounds of fentanyl were seized in the entirety of fiscal year 2023. Total.

The idea that Canada is a major hub for fentanyl trafficking into the US is a fantasy.

Turn off the media.  California didn't flood. Releasing hundreds of criminals and tearing apart the justice system? Did you not pay any attention to the last 5 years? How could he possibly be wiping out the justice system? He's not detaining law abiding Citizens. A tariff is not a threat. Gov't is probably the most wasteful of them all, so good on him for putting it on notice so OUR tax money gets tightened up and spent correctly so it benefits US. Sure is easy and fun to waste other peoples money huh? Democrats fired people for refusing to take a vax. That shit sucks, huh? For no reason.
