"Change lemmings" just need to look at current congress for a recent historical idea of what "changing" a bad GOP leadership can look like.  If you can honestly say Pelosi and Reid have been better for the country and had made any real changes then apparently I have missed it and need a review of them.

CAN YOU SHOW ME ONE 3RD PARTY CANDIDATE THAT CAUSED ONE PIECE OF LEGISLATION TO HAPPEN BECAUSE HE/SHE RECEIVED OVER 5% OF THE VOTE.
Other than in your mind, what effect have any of them had on the 2-party system....other than, more recently, seeing to it that Junior got elected....

for one they dont have enough votes to change anything and really wish people would start realizing this.  Even thou the democrats are in power, its the republicans who really are still controlling things.  After this election whent hey actually do have the power, then you can blame them if things go wrong.  Right now put the blame where it belongs on the republicans.

 You have no idea the people Obama is going to surround himself to try and work out the problems facing the country, where as McCain has already proven that he doesnt know how to select top notch people, with his awful selection of airhead Palin, who they wont allow to talk to anybody,yeah thats who i want running the country, so old senile angry man.
 
Face it we can go round and round about this, but the fact of the matter is you dont want McCain because he will be better for the country, you want McCain because he will be betetr for you personally.  Well other people feel Obama will be better for them personally.  I think because your life might be better off now then 8 years ago, your not seeing that alot of peoples lives arent better now thus a big reason for wanting Obama.  Look at it this way if Obama wins and he destroys you like you keep saying will happen{i highly doubt it and would bet in a year or 2 you will be way better off then you are now} you had a good 8 year run and maybe now its time for you to have some pain like the rest of the people in this country have been having.  Its time for us middle class folks to have some good things happen, while you fatcats pay your share.  You cant win all the time, a gambler should especially know this.

In my lifetime (a long time) I have not seen a third party candidate do anything but cause the election of the one that he did NOT draw most of the voters from.  Because of third party candidates, Clinton won twice, Bush won at least once, probably twice.  What good did the third party candidates do?  I quit marking my tax return for a donation to the elections because of cockamamie third party candidates that (no matter how far out there they were) would get money to run their rediculous race again.  I wish the country would get a VIABLE third party but it never will, we are stuck with these two we have.  George Wallace was right "There's not a dimes worth of difference..."  I vote for the least evil of those running, hard to decide, sometimes.

One other thing all this fear about the country coming to an end if a democrat is elected President has been going on for years and years with no such thing ever happening when a democrat was in office. People just keep going around saying the sky will fall if Obama is President, blah blah blah.  This is all total bs.
 
Its become really comical all the people going around saying how we are going to turn into europe and other silly things.
The country will be just fine and the sun will still come out everyday.
Its getting sickening constantly hearing the rich guys whine and cry about how they might have to pay a little more in taxes.

I assume by your answer to me that you got angry when you could not come up with one viable campaign to suit your bias.
So you had to resort to another personal attack...this time on my age....why not spend some time and attack a 72-year old man who chose Sarah Palin to have a 23% chance to become POTUS.
 
Yes, I want you to go into the mid 1800's........because that's where people like yourself feel more comfortable...
 
The difference between a  viable 3rd Party and what you see with the Green Party, The Liberterians, whoever....is the difference that you avoid understanding....
 
You have the right to vote for whomever...you can even writein KOAJ as your choice......you will make no difference, and that is unfortunate....people like yourself always work from without instead of from within.

As to your question about the constitution....I Believe that all elected officials.....regardless of position or party....believe that they are "upholding the constitution"...in their own minds sometimes.....The problem with that part is that the Supreme Court is more the issue...Do they interpret the Constitution or try to change the Constitution....and this is where the president can be a greater influence to the Constitution...as General Powell pointed out this morning.....

And another thing you say is that change should be enacted from within not without. Tell me what change has taken place in the last 48 years from within? Most of what I see is the same old same old from both major parties. Higher taxes, more social programs,bigger govt and more losses in our freedoms.

its obvious noone can get elected from a third party because of the stranglehold the so called two party system has over our democracy and eletion laws
 
that is why ron paul joined the repubs, to get on more ballots
 
the main stream media stiffled his campaign
 
until the laws are changed you will never have a viable option for third party candidates
 
the only way to change those laws is by voicing your disproval for what the elitists spoon feed you every four fucking years

Darkhorse.....I'm sorry for the mis-answer; but I saw it as one question and answered it that way. Of course I raised my hand and pledge allegiance....I have had that allegiance since I was aware of the world...and became pretty active in my early teens.
 
I thought that the "2 major parties" part meant "politicians"....
 
As to AP's quote....I not only agreed; but that was my challenge to Rooster concerning 3rd party or "protest votes"...and I have said so numerous times in this forum. Although, once again, he misinterpreted my statement (if you read his post under yours)..I am NOT asking if a 3rd party candidate was ELECTED....I am asking to show me ONE piece of legislation that was enacted because those in power (or the 2 parties) "learned their lesson" from the 3rd party voters....My point was and is and always will be that a 3rd party vote is a waste.......If you want to make a change, work from within and not from without. and that is a simple idea to understand....Be a Republican or a Democrat work from within your chosen party..get involved...run for office if you can...The Timothy McVeigh's of the world think that they can create change as outsiders....they don't.

I agree Rooster........and I am certainly not comparing you or anyone to McVeigh.....But I've been involved...sometimes deeply...in politics since 1960...it is a "business"..I've used that word before here.....we cannot be idealistic about a business...we have to be realistic....If you want to change a business, you go in, get your hands dirty, get involved, assume greater responsibilty...and make those changes that you wanted on day one.....
 
You cannot change a business from the "unemployment line"..and I compare 3rd parties to the unemployment line when trying to deal with the Republicans and Democrats...
 
Barack Obama started to run for the Presidency with that brilliant speech he gave at the 2004 Democrat convention...just as JFK started in 1956 to run for the nomination in 1960. You work from within to try and change.....Obama has raised more money than anyone in history...do you think he could have done that as the Independent, Liberterian, Green Party, or whatever candidate?...Of course not.
 
I am no longer the idealist from the early 60's....war, among other things, changes that fast... But I do believe in the future and not the past....I wish you and your family stay safe....It could get rough out there.........remember 11/22/63.....and say a prayer, its the only country we have.....
