Can anyone name another person that has had their civil liberties violated? I am talking personal knowledge here, not press reporting. Dumbass friends getting arrested by cops don't count, that happened before these laws were passed.
Lets see. My dad who has been an American citizen for 55 years (his whole life), has never been arrested or charged with any crime, works in the environmental protection field (removal of hazardous material, abestos, removing contaminated soils, demolition, etc). After the Patriot Act was passed (by the Republican party who controlled all houses) he was forced to have the FBI create a file and do a complete background check on not only his immediate family (my mom, brother, sister, me, grand parents, etc) but also our extended family.
He now has his fingerprints, eye scan and dna sample in an FBI file because of the Patriot Act. They have a file that knows everything about my family.
Now lets talk about how it effects you and other Americans who did not have to be FBI profiled. They are allowed to tap your phones, read your emails, have records of all your purchases and travel reservations... they are allowed to do all this without probable cause or warrants. The Patriot Act was suppose to be for the sole purpose of fighting terrorism but has been expanded to everything to the regular joe for such things as online gambling. What people do not understand is once you allow an Act like this to stay in place it will continue to expand to all facites of life and it will reach a point of no return and this will be a full out police state.
I believe that only 17% of arrests from warrantless taps and other leadways from the Patriot Act are associated with terrorism, what the Patriot Act was suppose to be about. The rest are everyday, regular citizens who have no TERRORIST TIES.
Also since you are a firm supporter of the Patriot Act, so it seems, can you tell me how many people who have been arrested for having a connection to terrorism... have actually been tried and found guilty??

Hint I think it is 0 and there are all those people still siting in Guantanamo Bay who are probably innocent as well.
God Bless America and our dwindling liberties.
