Grego,
Everybody is surely blaming this on the housing market but I'm not convinced on that. If people had jobs they wouldn't lose their houses. If they had enough liquidity/net worth/ less debt, they wouldn't freak at decline in value and bolt.
The average American is so thin financially right now they were unprepared for a drop in values.
In a good economy, this would not have happened.
The other part is Wall Street's packaging and leveraging of everything. Fannie/Freddie are probably also to blame for maybe artificially making it too easy for first timers to buy a house but once their individual economic situation got bleak, THAT'S where the problems originate in my opinion, but again I am not on top of the Freddie/Fannie situation.

Actually, I think he was very, very, very close. Within 1% or something. I will look that up.
Bear in mind, he had some OPEC issues going on so he gets a little extra credit.

Yes, the newly designed "priorities" will add some things.
Any problems cutting the two biggest portions of the Federal Budget? Military spending and Interest? Is that TOO OBVIOUS? Or do people like looking on page 500 for the small stuff?
As far as taming Government Spending. I'll tell you one thing right now. McCain & Palin couldn't tame a puppy. Not even sure if they can read and write much less "reform" government spending.
The last two Democratic Presidents balanced their budgets and the last three Republican Presidents did not.
Is this over everybody's head?

Your right I guess I just took it for granted that the math was correct. I should have taken the time to actually go over all of the figures before passing it along . Sorry to clog up the thread with inaccurate information. ![]()
