The bill, AB 957 gives the state power to take a child from it's parents if they do not affirm their kids gender identity! Biden admin directs seizure of nearly 1 million barrels of Iranian oil allegedly bound for China

The US government seized nearly 1 million barrels
of Iranian crude oil allegedly bound for China,
according to newly unsealed court documents
and a statement released by the DOJ on Friday.

“This is the first-ever criminal resolution
involving a company that violated sanctions
by facilitating the illicit sale and transport
of Iranian oil,” according to the DOJ.

The DOJ claimed that “multiple entities affiliated
with Iran’s IRGC and the IRGC-Qods Force”
were involved in the scheme to “disguise the
origin of the oil” and illegally sell it to China,
according to court documents.

Pennsylvania is rolling out automatic voter registration

The Commonwealth just became the 24th state to make voter registration an automatic part of getting a driver's license or identification.

Automatic voter registration is good for democracy.  So far, roughly 26 states have automatic registration?  But some republican lawmakers are wary about making voting easier.

OK.  Enforcing the sanctions would seem a good thing but I wonder what happens to that oil

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy called on Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez to resign after the senator was charged with corruption-related offenses today for the second time in 10 years.

" The alleged facts are so serious that they
compromise the ability of Senator Menendez
to effectively represent the people of our state.
Therefore, I am calling for his immediate resignation,"
he wrote in a statement.

and an apartment allegedly received by Menendez a
nd his wife, Nadine Arslanian.
His wife was also indicted.

The indictment charges Menendez, 69, and his wife
with having a corrupt relationship with three New Jersey
businessmen -- Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daides.

The indictment accuses Menendez and his wife of
accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes
in exchange for using the senator's power and
influence to seek to protect and enrich the businessman.

*NOBODY is above the law!  If shown to be guilty
       in a court of law, he and others should be punished!

The Biden admin has announced, in an historic first, major drug companies including Johnson & Johnson, Merck and Bristol Myers Squibb have committed to participate in Medicare drug price negotiations with the federal government.

Drug companies have filed lawsuits to protect profits but agree to negotiate to avoid losing lucrative coverage under medicaid and medicare.  Their lawsuits should fail because participation in government programs are voluntary for drug companies.   Lower prices for initial 10 drugs could potentially save consumers billions of dollars.  Unlike other countries, US has the most unaffordable healthcare system in the world because industry can get away with charging high prices.  When markets fail, only government intervention can keep prices low.
