It was bad. But I was lucky. I was in university at the time so although it was all over the headlines in the papers unemployment and a recession really didn't affect us in college. I paid my way through by reffing hoops and umping baseball/fastball back then.
For some reason the leagues grew as people had a LOT of free time on their hands.

Every REPUBLICAN president since Benjamin Harrison, who served from 1889 to 1893, had a recession START in their first term in office, Stovall said. Trump was on track to break that streak -- until the (ed, trump-enabled) pandemic ended the longest economic expansion in American history (ed, primarily under Obama)
*Per-share earnings grew by 12.8%on average when Democrats controlled the White House, compared with just 1.8%for Republicans, according to CFRA.
Simply put, Wall Street has already decided it can live with a Biden White House. Many Americans recall how well stocks performed under Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the last two Democrats to occupy the White House.

According to a graph showing job creation under recent presidents, “Clinton is the king here, but Obama is a respectable second. Both Bushes have anemic numbers, and Trump’s are a disaster.
“Clinton of course erased the deficit and gave us a surplus, which Dubya wiped out with two big tax cuts. Obama inherited a disaster from him but lowered the deficit over time, and Trump was already making the deficit worse before the virus hit because of his massive tax cut.”

True. Biden was quite a bit ahead of trump dating back to last summer even!
The notion that the racist/fascist was somehow headed to a guaranteed re-election prior to trump's pandemic is just right-wing fantasy.

Fed chair warns of economic tragedy if America can't control the coronavirus
New York (CNN Business)America is on the long road to economic recovery from the pandemic recession, but dark clouds remain on the horizon. The recovery is far from complete, and the US economy remains of danger of shifting into reverse once again. One major risk factor: A rise in Covid-19 infections, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Tuesday at the National Association for Business Economics annual meeting. A second wave of coronavirus could "more significantly limit economic activity, not to mention the tragic effects on lives and well-being," Powell said. "Managing this risk as the expansion continues will require following medical experts' guidance, including using masks and social-distancing measures."

Yeah and Don’t forget Obama’s brilliant debt record Or carters 20 % int rates. Gotta love them Ds
Do you have amnesia ?
IF no
You forgot about the mess Obama inherited from Bush
When President Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) continued its credit crisis slump and fell to 7,949.09, the lowest inaugural performance (as measured by percentage drop) for the Dow since its creation in 1896.
The Dow closed at 19,827.25 on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2017 <=== the day Obama left
Economy does well under Democratic Administration because the Dems are interested in governing and can actually govern
What has Trump done to fix the COVID-19 issue ?
Calling it the Chinese virus" or having a cavalier attitude about it until he caught it himself is not solution
Trump has no respect for medical experts but once he gets sicks, he gets the best healthcare , which is trying to deny other Americans
Supreme Court nomination is more important than the stimulus package

Goldman Sachs published that a Democratic sweep would help the economy recover quicker and Biden's plan would create more jobs.
True!
Here it is:
Goldman Sachs: A Democratic sweep would mean faster economic recovery
President Donald Trump is once again warning voters that Democrats would "shut our economy and jobs down" if they win in November.
Goldman Sachs is telling its clients the exact opposite.
Just hours after Trump's all-caps Monday morning tweet predicting economic disaster, Goldman economists pointed out that polls "suggest a 'blue wave' in which Democrats gain unified control of Washington is becoming more likely" "All else equal, such a blue wave would likely prompt us to upgrade our forecasts," Goldman Sachs chief economist Jan Hatzius wrote in a Monday report.

Fact check: Do Republican presidents oversee recessions and Dems oversee recoveries?
USA TODAY The claim: 'Every GOP administration since Reagan has overseen a recession while every Democratic administration since then has overseen a strong recovery and economic boom.'
Our rating: True
While it is difficult to assess blame for the root causes, at least one recession did begin under every Republican president since Ronald Reagan compared with zero under Democratic presidents over the same period.

Real GDP growth, a measure of economic activity in the U.S., averaged 3.33% during the 64 years and 16 presidential terms going back to the mid-1940s, according to a 2013 research paper by professors of economics Alan Blinder and Mark Watson at Princeton University. With a Republican in the White House, though, the economy's growth slowed to 2.54%, the economists found.
With a Democrat in office, growth jumped to 4.35% on average!
A variety of other economic indicators, such as per capita GDP, stock market returns, real wages and the change in the unemployment rate, are also more robust with a Democratic president, the economists found. Unemployment FELL by 0.8 percentage points with a Democratic president on average, while it ROSE 1.1 percentage points with a Republican, according to Blinder and Watson.
"The U.S. economy has performed better when the president of the United States is a Democrat rather than a Republican, almost regardless of how one measures performance," according to the report titled "Presidents and the Economy: A Forensic Investigation."

Unfortunately I have to agree, because ONCE AGAIN a Democrat has to put out the fires and clean up the mess a REPUBLICAN left behind.
