it definitely looked like it slammed down too hard. The right landing gear failed, and the ground did the rest. amazing that if you knew of proper channels you saw the results in almost real time, amazing that the wing that should never break off did and saved everyone. Wind shear pushed the nose down? Center of runway or off to the side? Why didn't they circle around with 40+ wind shear? Lucky there was a medivac plane waiting to taxi and a medivac copter trying to clear the airspace and circled back. Miracle is the only answer

Delta has already revealed who the pilots were and yes it was a seasoned captain with a female co-polit hired less than a year ago. They also stated both pilots had good records, passing all their required tests.
My guess is she had control and the captain did not intervene soon enough.
A similar senario once happened to my wife and I. Flying to Flint Bishop Airport in late February years ago, cross-winds were 25-35mph, Captain warned us approach maybe bumpy. The approach was scarey as hell for me. The plane wings were dipping back and forth and the plane itself yawing left and right as we were nearing the runway. No way that plane should try to land and about 200' over the runway they went to a " goaround". Thank God!! Next approach was totally different, every dip and yaw the pilot quickly corrected and we flew straight in, no problems. Obviously who ever had control the first time was inexperienced and the seasoned pilot took over when they needed to.
Hate it when I'm the passanger and someone in the cockpit is in training.
