The director of the Internal Revenue Service division under fire for singling out conservative groups sent a 2012 letter under her name to one such group, POLITICO has learned.
The March 2012 letter was sent to the Ohio-based American Patriots Against Government Excess (American PAGE) under the name of Lois Lerner, the director of the Exempt Organizations Division.

“The ranking Democrat on the House’s tax-writing committee on Wednesday called for two senior officials at the IRS to step down over the agency’s targeting of conservative groups. Rep. Sandy Levin (D-Mich.) said the acting commissioner of the IRS, Steven Miller, and Lois Lerner, who runs the IRS’s section on tax-exempt organizations, should resign.”

Good for him:

Resign nothing, they and/or whomever ordered them to do this should be in jail.
Lois Lerner should be brough to testify infront of the committee investigating this. Questioning should be easy..Ms. Lerner, whoever is responsible for this illegal act is going to jail. So far you are the top person on the chain of command. Does this end with you and are you willing to go to jail or did one of your superiors order you to do this?
If she names someone, bring that person in and repeat. I'd have this wrapped up in a week.
Stay disciplined and manage your bankroll

We already know that the IRS developed “inappropriate criteria” in flagging for review more than 90 Tea Party groups that were applying for tax-exempt status as 501(c)(4)s. But did any liberal groups receive heavy scrutiny, or did they get a free pass?
Some new reporting from Bloomberg suggests that at least three Democratic-leaning groups faced similar inquiries from the IRS:
The Internal Revenue Service, under pressure after admitting it targeted anti-tax Tea Party groups for scrutiny in recent years, also had its eye on at least three Democratic-leaning organizations seeking nonprofit status.
One of those groups, Emerge America, saw its tax-exempt status denied, forcing it to disclose its donors and pay some taxes. None of the Republican groups have said their applications were rejected.
Progress Texas, another of the organizations, faced the same lines of questioning as the Tea Party groups from the same IRS office that issued letters to the Republican-friendly applicants. A third group, Clean Elections Texas, which supports public funding of campaigns, also received IRS inquiries.

Give the bashing a rest Stiln.....................
I dont care if they targeted left, right, center, happy, old, young, back, white etc
The point is its an abuse of power and if that doesnt bother you then it is what it is.
Take care dude
tell 14 to mix in some reasonable threads and this will be doable. At the moment all of 14 posts are littered with a certain theme (regardless of how rationale or nor -- and most are irrational) and we are all familiar with his methods.
Consider the source is the short of it.

Despite his resignation, Miller is expected to testify Friday at a hearing before the House Ways and Means Committee, according to a source familiar with the proceedings.
News of Miller's resignation followed revelations that the IRS has identified two "rogue" employees in the agency's Cincinnati office as being principally responsible for the "overly aggressive" handling of requests by conservative groups for tax-exempt status, a congressional source told CNN.
Miller said the staffers have already been disciplined, according to another source familiar with Miller's discussions with congressional investigators. The second source said Miller emphasized that the problem with IRS handling of tax-exempt status for tea party groups was not limited to these two employees.

I agree. I don't know why they don't go after this Lerner woman. She was in charge of the unit, one of the letters that went out asking for more information has her signature on it, and she lied to the media when she said it was only 75 cases and "low level staffers"
She should be testifying.

The director of the Office of Rulings and Agreements, which oversees the determinatons of tax-exempt organizations, is a donor to Barack Obama. Holly Paz donated $2,000 to Obama’s 2008 campaign, according to Open Secrets, which maintains a database of individual political donations.
Note that the former IRS Comissioner (not the guy fired yesterday) and Lois Lerner are testifying in front of Congress on May 22.

Total coincidence I'm sure:

I do not believe what the IRS was reported to have been doing is an outrage. I believe that the IRS agents in this case did nothing wrong. Let me say it again, you won’t hear it anywhere else: the IRS agents did nothing wrong. They were simply trying to enforce the law as the IRS has understood it since 1959.” – Lawrence O’Donnell on the IRS.

Any of you Politico's remember when the Obama administration set up an email address snitch line , 'flag@whitehouse.gov', and" Attack Watch" in order to allow supporters to report on "misinformation" by people or neighbors who opposed Obamacare ?
Well,Congressman Steve Stockman has asked two House chairmen to investigate allegations individuals reported to a White House email address for criticizing Obama’s health care reforms were targeted with Internal Revenue Service audits.
If true...this can not be legal.

I love this.
Somehow this is totally comparable to the ~500 conservative groups.
Or something.
As I posted, at least 3 liberal groups were also investigated and 1 was turned down for tax exempt status. No conservative groups were denied tax exempt status. Rather than laugh at it prove it wrong.Just another of your bs threads and posts that you are known for. When someone slaps you with the truth you deflect with one of your shi t posts.Just for once try to debate somene rather than deflect.

IRS has already apologized for red-flagging conservative groups and their members for audits..for IRS audits to punish and intimidate people and groups that are/were President Obama's enemies......
Singling out people/ groups for IRS audits is beyond politics ( not a R/D thingy)..it is a direct threat to the very integrity of our system.
Questioning or criticizing government spending, taxes, debt or how the government is run ... any involved in limiting/expanding government and you find yourself getting extra scrutiny from the IRS..
The IRS are like cops ..they have the power to put you in jail.
