   Trump admin is pulling supercomputers out of key weather and climate research center

A leading American research lab is slated to lose its critical supercomputing facility, according to a letter released Thursday by the National Science Foundation.

The move is part of the Trump administration’s effort to disassemble the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, one of the world’s top weather and climate research centers, which [trump's] admin views as a source of climate change alarmism.

The computing center, which is slated to be turned over to an unspecified third party, runs weather and climate research models and is used by about 1,500 researchers from over 500 universities around the country.

  The work done on this supercomputer benefits the American people by leading to more accurate forecasts of extreme weather and climate events, aircraft turbulence and more.

Americans, not other countries, paid Trump's tariffs in 2025

American consumers and companies paid nearly 90% of the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs through late 2025, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

The study adds to a growing body of evidence indicating American families pay a price for Trump’s import taxes, despite the president's assertion that the financial burden falls entirely on other countries.

Tax foundation estimates Trump tariffs cost average US household $1000 in 2025 and probably $1300 in 2026.  Big tax hike harms poor households more than rich households.  Prediction markets show 75% chance of supreme court striking down his illegal tariffs.  Refunds could boost US economy but federal government would suffer greater deficits.

The Supreme Court delivered a major blow  to [der Führer of the MAGA REICH],

ruling Friday that he exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs

using a law reserved only for a national emergency.

The justices, divided 6-3, held that Trump's aggressive approach to tariffs on products entering the United States from across the world was NOT permitted under a 1977 law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

 Despite Trump's rhetoric about the tariffs "allegedly" benefiting the economy, stocks RALLIED on news of the ruling.

  The House Democratic whip, Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, called the Supreme Court ruling a “win for the American people”.  

“Trump’s tariffs are an illegal tax on working families
– hiking costs on everything from groceries to utility bills,”

Tariff Liberation Day!

Law limits Trump new tariffs to 150 days because congress is unlikely to extend it.  Unclear whether alternative tariffs would fare better than his emergency tariffs.   Congress should reinforce its authority over tariffs against abuse by future presidents and refund billions in tariffs revenue to Americans as soon as possible.  Since congress republicans are Trump puppets, more reasons to vote for democrats in midterm elections.

 Trump said on Saturday

that now he will increase the global tariffs he imposed a day earlier to 15%

from 10% following an adverse ruling at the Supreme Court.

US economic growth slowed sharply!

[A new economic report] which was delayed by the record 43-day government shutdown, highlighted a jobless economic expansion as well as a "K-shaped" economy, in which upper-income households are doing well while lower-income consumers are struggling amid high inflation from import tariffs and stalling wage growth. 

 Those conditions have created what economists and Trump's opponents call an affordability crisis.

Only 181,000 jobs were added last year [under the 2nd trump regime] - the fewest outside the pandemic [also under trump] since the 2009 Great Recession - and down from 1.45 MILLION in 2024 [President Biden's final year]

Wall street journal warns that Trump new tariffs might backfire.  They could hurt US economy, create chaos, invite legal challenges and cost republicans in midterm elections.  Polls show most Americans disapprove of Trump tariffs.

FedEx says it will return to customers any refunds it gets back from Trump's illegal tariff

The statement came after FedEx filed suit in the U.S. Court of International Trade to request a refund on what it paid for tariffs set by President Donald Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that [trump's] IEEPA tariffs are illegal.
