Anyone that bets real money is down more than 30k if they follow the BTC guy or the guy that bet 1% of his bankroll but was shitting bricks over if the Lions would score a Touchdown on Thursday if the Packers were smart enough to let them score.

Forget mutual funds and Invest in growth stocks. I've been through what you're going through and put most of my money in the stock market and I've been doing great the past 10 years.
I managed to control my sports betting to $100-$200 bets for fun. The main key for me was to stop betting for months whenever I lose $1000-$2000. If I win, I withdraw the account down to $2000 and quit if I lose that. This helps me reset and come back feeling like a clean slate. No chasing.
You can make money in the stock market long term, tough to do that betting on sports. Good luck.
