So Chicago should see Lopez for roughly the first turn through part of the order, then Civale for most of the remaining first five innings

Civale has a 5.10 ERA and a 5.17 xERA, so there is no bad luck excuse here.

He strikes out only 16.5 percent of hitters, gives up a 90.4 mph average exit velocity and allows a 45.6 percent hard hit rate. He does not miss bats, and when hitters make contact, they smoke the ball in the air.

His fastballs have been getting murdered. Opponents are hitting .368 and slugging .684 against the sinker, then hitting .357 and slugging .810 against the four seamer. Both pitches sit around 91 mph, so there is not much room for error.

Left handed hitters have crushed him too, posting a 1.86 WHIP against him. Chicago is sending out seven left handed or switch hitting bats, so once Lopez gets the fuck out of there, Civale walks directly left heavy fuck show
