I would personally want to see her data.  It's not impossible it treated these individuals but to tout it for the masses is irresponsible to the infinity degree.  If you want people to sign waivers before taking it by all means I guess, it's their lives.

Kag. It's good to see someone in here that speaks from a rational mind. Personally, I never defended the drug nor dismissed it. If 350 people were treated with success, that's great news. I don't care what drug works or whom gets credit, only that progress is made. The problem with some of the cartoon characters on this site is that they blindly oppose Trump on all issues. If it was Coke vs. Pepsi they would still oppose Trump as if he was the devil himself. Yes, Fubah and Kelly. I'm calling you losers out again for being guilty as charged. Thanks for sharing your insight and experience. Some people here believe anything the President says about an unproven medication not initially designed to treat covid-19, which is a scary. A lot of missing data from the rare studies and quack doctors, who claim it is effective with no supporting evidence whatsoever. Thanks again.

I agree finding various drugs with off label treatment is good.  That being said, humans beings are not all designed the same way.  That would make a lot of things easier if they were but we all have various reactions and responses to drugs/foods/cosmetics that are introduced to our bodies.  There is a reason is takes drugs a longgggggggg time to hit market.  There is a ton of testing done prior to a drug even sniffing a human body.  Once it gets to that point there are a ton of testing done before it sniffs market.  This is because you need to ascertain what the long term effects of taking a drug will do to the human body.  You could take hydroxychloroquine and it could relieve your symptoms but it could also lower your life expectancy in the future.  That's why we do the testing to make sure things are safe and won't trade off your future for temporary relief now.

McConnell signal to Republican Senate candidates:

(CNN) Sen. majority leader Mitch "the grim reaper" McConnell
is allowing Republican Senate candidates to do whatever it takes to
salvage their campaigns ahead of what Republicans
increasingly fear could be a devastating election for their party.

In recent weeks, the Senate majority leader has become so concerned
over Republicans losing control of the Senate that he has signaled to
vulnerable GOP senators in tough races that they could distance
themselves from the President if they feel it is necessary, according to
multiple senior Republicans including a source close to McConnell.

That could mean breaking with Trump on the administration's response
to the coronavirus pandemic and the continued efforts by the President
to paint an optimistic picture despite rising cases and deaths across parts
of the country, especially in many Republican states in the South and Midwest.

Birx warns US is 'in a new phase'
of coronavirus pandemic with
more widespread cases

(CNN) Dr. Deborah Birx on Sunday said the US is in a new phase in its fight
against the coronavirus pandemic, saying that the deadly virus is more
widespread than when it first took hold in the US earlier this year.

"What we are seeing today is different from March and April.
It is extraordinarily widespread. It's into the rural as equal urban areas"

"This epidemic right now is different and it's more widespread and
it's both rural and urban," she added.

A new ensemble forecast, published by the US Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, projects more than 173,000 American deaths by August 22,
and former US Food and Drug Administrator Dr. Scott Gottlieb warned on
CNBC last month that the coronavirus death toll could double to 300,000
deaths by the end of the year, if the country doesn't change its trajectory.

Hydroxychloroquine is NOT recommended

Hydroxychloroquine is not recommended as a treatment for Covid-19,
Adm. Brett Giroir, a member of trump's White House coronavirus task force
said on NBC on Sunday.

“ At this point in time, there’s been five
randomized controlled, placebo controlled trials,
that do not show any benefit to hydroxychloroquine,” Giroir said.
“ So, at this point in time, we don’t recommend that as a treatment.”

“And the evidence just doesn’t show that hydroxychloroquine is effective right now.”

“Right now, hydroxychloroquine, I can’t recommend that."

Trump criticizes Birx for the first time
after she issues coronavirus warnings

 (CNN)President Donald Trump criticized Dr. Deborah Birx in a Monday tweet
after she warned the pandemic is "extraordinarily widespread" in the US.

While Trump and other top White House officials have publicly attacked
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the tweet marked the first time Birx, the coordinator
of the White House coronavirus task force, publicly drew Trump's ire.
The dust-up comes as the country continues to be ravaged by coronavirus,
with more than 155,000 US citizens dead and more than 4.6 million cases.

Trump has consistently lied and misled mostly in attempts to downplay concerns
about the virus as he presses for schools and businesses to reopen.

"So Crazy Nancy Pelosi said horrible things about Dr. Deborah Birx,
going after her because she was too positive on the very good job
we are doing on combatting the China Virus, including Vaccines &
Therapeutics. In order to counter Nancy, Deborah took the bait & hit us.
Pathetic!" Trump wrote.

"Well, I think that we're doing very well and
we have done as well as any nation," he told reporters.

On the first day of school in Canton, Georgia,
a second grader tested positive, sending the teacher and 20 other classmates
into a two-week quarantine, the Cherokee County School District told CNN.

Although health experts are still investigating how children contract and spread
the virus, outbreaks could complicate an upsurge in a rare but paralyzing condition,
the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

Chicago public schools
will start the school year all virtual

(CNN) Chicago Public Schools, the nation's third-largest school system,
will start the coming school year with fully remote learning for all students
due to the coronavirus pandemic, the district announced Wednesday.
The decision could avoid a possible strike from the Chicago Teachers Union.

The district will implement remote learning through the first quarter,
which ends November 9, and then will evaluate if it is safe to open in a
hybrid learning model.
Illinois has seen a consistent rise in daily coronavirus cases over the past
two months. The state's seven-day average of new daily cases topped
1,500 this week as Covid-19 has spread widely throughout the country,
according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

WASHINGTON - Twitter removed a video that was retweeted on President Donald
Trump's account late Monday night sharing unproven claims
that an anti-malaria drug is an effective treatment for the coronavirus.
The platform also limited the account of the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr.,
after he shared one version of the video as a “must watch!!!”

Trump has repeatedly pushed unproven claims that an anti-malaria drug,
hydroxychloroquine, is an effective treatment for COVID-19.

But there is no known cure for COVID-19, according to the U.S. Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization.

Numerous studies have shown that hydroxychloroquine is NOT
an effective treatment for virus.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration
also recently withdrew an order that allowed the drug's use as a
emergency treatment for COVID-19.

There are now 53 studies that show positive results of hydroxychloroquine in COVID infections. There are 14 global studies that show neutral or negative results -- and 10 of them were of patients in very late stages of COVID-19, where no antiviral drug can be expected to have much effect. Of the remaining four studies, two come from the same University of Minnesota author. The other two are from the faulty Brazil paper, which should be retracted, and the fake Lancet paper, which was.

Millions of people are taking or have taken hydroxychloroquine in nations that have managed to get their national pandemic under some degree of control. Two recent, large, early-use clinical trials have been conducted by the Henry Ford Health System and at Mount Sinai showing a 51% and 47% lower mortality, respectively, in hospitalized patients given hydroxychloroquine. A recent study from Spain published on July 29, two days before Margaret Sullivan’s strafing of “fringe doctors,” shows a 66% reduction in COVID mortality in patients taking hydroxychloroquine. No serious side effects were reported in these studies and no epidemic of heartbeat abnormalities.

This is ground-shaking news. Why is it not being widely reported? Why is the American media trying to run the U.S. pandemic response with its own misinformation?
