Honest question and not trying to be racist: Why do GM's draft black QB's to run the team?

To me it doesnt match the sharpe ratio that they should be looking at when making these decisions. The statistical likelihood of that player turning out to be a franchise QB is extremely low. This is again nothing against blacks but they just don't have the IT factor that other QB's have and it has been proven time and time again throughout history. The last black QB I can remember that was truly special (and I met him through my church when I was a kid. Great guy) was Randall Cunningham. Vick had some flashes of being great in his youngin days but other than that its a losing proposition.

So If I am correct then why do GM's continue to do this when they no it has a huge negative EV??

No idea. Jamarcus Russell anyone?

In college they look superior playing against other kids,when you hit the NFL you need more than athletic ability.

exactly how i feel. I am not against drafting a black QB but I am just baffled by the GM's that continue to draft them in the first round like they have the possibility of being next steve young.

Nothing to do with black or white. It has to do with running qbs. They dont work in nfl. Russel wilson is different cuz he can deliver ball from pocket as well

I think it has to do with the idea of selling tickets....bring in the dynamic black QB who can sell jerseys and tickets...it's all a business...Jerry jones said it himself...how much are you willing to write on that check book to win the superbowl?

Bridge water  will not do nothing watch and see once he is fig out he will be Vick Newton etc but I do see why there drafted amazing in practice amazing arms and look so great athletically there just not qbs simple as that nothing to do with race

There weren't many opportunities really given to them until last 2 decades or so and it wasn't a huge supply starting from high-school level back then. Well, high school-- College-- Pros.

 

Wilson is 99% or more in terms of being an African American. Look it up since it's not hard to find but I remember you even once said he's half white.

Doug Williams only black Q.B. to win superbowl.Take a look at the great ones today. Not 1 in top 20. Brady, luck the Mannings, Brees, Foles,Cutler,Rivers,Stafford,and look tonite, even sanchez looks not bad. And the list goes on. If you cannot admit this stat it is not racist it is a fact. Get your head out of the sand you dummies.

for the most part black & white football players have different skill sets. Of course there are exceptions but most fall under these skill sets. Your best Rbs and DBs are black, Your best QBs are white. OL tend to be white while DL tend to be black. Most all kickers are white. It's not being racist to state the obvious!
