Honest question and not trying to be racist: Why do GM's draft black QB's to run the team?

Say it over and over again.

If I was running a college team I'd love a black quarterback.  Athletic skills, running the ball can make me a title contender.

But in the NFL, these guys are quick enough to catch up to anyone.  And bigger enough to injure a mobile quarterback.  I wouldn't draft a black quarterback, unless he was a pocket passer with good field vision.  Peyton Manning is arguably the best qb in the NFL and nobody would call him mobile.

The top 14 quarterbacks in the NFL, in terms of ratings, are all white.  Kap is 15.  In the last 6 are 4 black qb's,  Newton (26), EJ Manuel (27), Bridgewater (30), Geno Smith (32).

Don't expect to hear this in the mainstream media anytime soon.  But do expect to use it if you're handicapping.

If you're a GM and you see the Jets pick up Geno Smith, and you're going to watch the coach and possibly the GM get fired, what's in your thoughts.

I think it's worth picking up a black qb and take a chance in the later rounds.  See Russel Wilson. But I wouldn't give up 3 first round picks, like the Redskins did for RG III.  EJ Manuel was picked in the 1st round, Geno in the 2nd, and look at what happened.

That said, the Raiders picked up Derek Carr, and he's white and a disaster so far, so it's not easy being a GM.

    As did Russel Wilson.

But the exception does not make the rule.

The most mobile quarterback I think I've ever seen is Michael Vick.  In his prime with the Falcons he made NFL players look silly.  He was one of the most electric qb's I've ever seen.

But he's been prone to injury since he came back with the Eagles in 2009.  In every year since he's missed games due to injury.

That's another issue-once these guys hit 30 they're pushing it, because they rely on their speed and athleticism so much.

That said Vick had a hell of a game against the Steelers last time out.

My question is what's the point of bringing up somebody's skin color regarding playing a certain position?

And why don't I see any questions about White guy this or that?

Some of you guys on this site just make me laugh with the stuff you say.  Cause it makes no sense.

Maybe it's because the position of QB is the last position on the field that White Guy's can say they are actually good at?  Is that it? lol.  Cause other then that, i'm lost on this whole topic

For me personally, I'm trying to make $ off it.  When Vegas catches up, I don't care as much.

I've been saying for a long time Cam isn't the answer.  Would have made a winning bet tonight.  Then again, Cam is hurt, and Id passed on the game.

Would have made a lot betting against Geno Smith and the NY Jets.  Then again, Michael Vick won the last game.

If there's any advantage to be made, i want to know about it.

There may be only white guys on the green paper we call $, but I could care less who was on it, as long as it pays the bills.

    Take Minny vs Chicago.

I'd love to take Minny, but Minny is playing, you guessed it-Teddy Bridgewater.

That said, I took the Jets and Vick.

College, another story.  I'll take any black qb in the game there, without a 2nd thought.

Eventually the NFL and before that, Vegas, will catch up.  They're already catching up-there are few black qb's in the game now.

That said Vick had a hell of a game against the Steelers last time out.

thats silly. wilson is 100 times the qb vick ever was or will be. mobile? do u watch any games?

When you see Teddy Bridgewater and Geno Smith fall in the draft, and nobody can figure out why because they've been outstanding in college and have an NFL build and throwing arm, think twice.

It's not an angle easily exploited any more, and I was too late to exploit it, anyways.

    Wow...Vick in his prime?

Did you see what he did to a Steelers cornerback last game, broke his ankles.

In his prime nobody stopped him one on one.  He made NFL guys look silly.  It was honor to watch him play.

Nothing against Wilson, he's a great runner don't get me wrong, but he never will be able to do what Vick did.  I have yet to see what others do what Vick did.  jmo, that's all.

I realize there are a lot of Vick haters out there.

Vick's win-loss rate wasn't all that high but the Falcons were a terrible team with a terrible offensive line.

Like Jordan, like you said, once a generation you see a guy who does things nobody else can do.

Totally agree his head has to be in the game, he's been known to take games off.  And he's been hit to where he's injured.  You have to get him at the right time.

Just look at some of his highlights-when he ran he made NFL players look like amateurs, never seen anything like it.

Michael Vick was injury prone and inconsistent. He showed signs of greatness but everyone always waited for him to become elite and it never happened.

It's a shame what age does to these guys-Manning, Vick, Jordan, guys with special talents, we'll never see again.

Look up Vick, Brice McCain, Steelers, from the last game.

Just hints of what he used to do, regularly, when he was healthy and motivated.
