Over and back

As an official I would like to ask about the Over and Back Ruling..... When a player inbounds the ball the are able to inbound to the back court.  If a player fron the team with possession makes contact (tips) the ball before it enters the back court does this create an over and back violation??? &#xD;&#xA;Thanks For your help.&#xD;&#xA;I called the over and back?&#xD;&#xA;BJ

If the ball is thrown to the in-court and it tipped backwards to the backcourt, it is an over-and-back violation. Which is why you NEVER see college or pro teams in-bounding the ball forward from quarter-court.

Were you reffing kids? They probably wanted to throw it up court and didn't realize the risks involved with this.
